Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is rapidly approaching, and the hype and spin have started. Paramount have released a new poster for the eagerly anticipated video game adaptation, showcasing Sonic (Ben Schwartz) and Tails (Colleen O’Shaughnessey) in their plane The Tornado as they escape from an angry looking —and slightly redesigned— Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) and his newly improved army of badnik slaves. There’s no sign of Knuckles, who is set to be played by Idris Elba in the film.

If you’d like to see the full Sonic 2 poster, you’ll find it in this tweet below:

Alongside the poster, the official account promised that Sonic 2’s first trailer would be shown at The Game Awards 2021.

Shortly after the release of the poster, The Game Awards did a tweet announcing that not only will we get to see the trailer for the new film at TGA 2021, but we’d also get a look at the new Sonic the Hedgehog game presented by Jim Carrey and Ben Schwartz. You can see the tweet announcing the gameplay demo here:

There have been several leaks about Sonic Frontiers, most of which imply the game (which at the time was called Sonic Rangers) will be an open world cross between fan-favorite Sonic Generations and all-time classic The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild in terms of it’s game design. If you’d like to read more about those leaks, you can find them here.

We’re eager to see what that would look like, so we’ll definitely be watching The Game Awards 2021 tomorrow night.
