PAYDAY 2 just came out with a new update to celebrate the Chinese New Year. Along with some cosmetic unlocks, there is also a brand new weapon set that has been added to the game. A preset of mods to ensure a great-firing and cool-looking weapon without needing to unlock lots of different mods or spend the time experimenting.

What’s New in PAYDAY 2 Update 217?

A new ‘Year of The Tiger’ charm has been added to the game, which draws cultural references to ancient China. Players will receive the new charm as part of the Chinese New Year update. In addition to the cosmetic unlocks, an exclusive weapon set is also available as part of the update.

Exclusive Sets offer a brand new way to modify your weapon. An Exclusive Set will perform equally well to what you can achieve by picking out the mods yourself.  They give you a quick one-click setup for a gun that will perform well and look good while doing so.

The Exclusive Weapon Sets mark the start of a new era that simplifies modding for new players. Veterans will continue to be able to mod their weapons however they feel like. However, the change should help newer players become accustomed to the weapons and attachments early in the game. Here are some of the highlights of the new patch:

  • Motion Dot Added to reduce motion sickness symptoms
  • New Gun Charm to commemorate Year of The Tiger
  • Down Counter added for teammates

In addition to all of the changes and cosmetics, PAYDAY 2 has also partnered with SteelSeries to bring the tech brand’s mascot Lars the Troll to the game. To check out all of the official patch notes, click here.
