PlayStation are launching a new campaign that gives fans of the franchise a chance to buy a PS5 console direct through PlayStation. The guidelines are simple, register your details on the ‘Register to buy‘ page and hope you’re lucky enough to receive an invitation to purchase a console.
It seems like the campaign is only running in the US at the moment and registrations to be in with a chance to buy a console start this November 2021.

PlayStation will select ‘winners’ based on PlayStation activity
According to the PlayStation website, individuals will be selected based on ‘previous interests and PlayStation activity’ – helping to reduce the number of consoles being purchased by scalpers. It also seems to suggest that gamers with greater PlayStation activity levels will receive priority over others.
Regardless of the selection process, there will only be a limited number of consoles available this holiday period – meaning not everyone will get one. However, if you are lucky enough to snag a direct purchase through PlayStation, here’s what you’ll be able to purchase:
- 1 x PS5 console or PS5 Digital Edition
- 2 x DualSense wireless controllers (bundles, cosmic red, or Midnight Black)
- 3 x DualSense wireless controllers (white)
- 1 x PS5 media remote
- 1 x Pulse 3D wireless headset
If you have been successful, PlayStation will email you directly with details on how to purchase the PS5. According to the PlayStation registration post, emails will be on a strict time limit, meaning if you don’t reply within a certain time period your chance to get a PS5 will be terminated.
PlayStation also states the following regarding registration emails, “Please make sure your email address is the one associated with your PSN ID and that you are opted in to receive PlayStation emails.”
Other than that, there really isn’t much to do to be in with a chance to buy a PS5 from PlayStation. The page goes on to say that no individual selected will be subject to a ‘sold out’ email – with all PS5 consoles being pre-reserved for this particular campaign.
