Those wishing to explore the historic Hisui region unspoiled may want to log off twitter for a while. As is sadly customary for the series as this point, a large batch of Pokemon Legends Arceus spoilers have appeared online. It’s a regretful incident this close to the game’s release, but fans of the series have come to see leaks as almost commonplace.  No digital copies of the game appear to have been released as of yet. This makes the leaks likely to have originated from physical copies intended for stores, which have found their ways into players’ hands ahead of schedule.

Monster designs, battle features and even the opening cutscene have all appeared online. So too have story details, which is bad news for those fans that appreciate the series’ worldbuilding as much as its battling. Thus far, the Pokemon Legends Arceus leaks are some of the most comprehensive in the series’ history. Players will need to be cautious online in the next couple of weeks if they want to enter the game with untempered expectations

A (Pokemon) League of its own

It almost goes without saying that Pokemon is a beloved franchise, inspiring lifelong devotion in many. This devotion is often expressed through fans doing their best to uncover the shape and secrets of each new game prior to release. Those fans that are prone to examining every crumb of pre-release information will likely have a field day with these leaks. This could even end up being good news for the developers at Game Freak if early reactions are positive. But equally, there is a large contingent of the fanbase that are vocally negative about the series’ shortcomings, feeling that the games are stagnating.

Worries about the series’ trajectory are not entirely without merit, but the Pokemon Legends Arceus leaks may push things in the wrong direction. Overzealous critics of the series most definitely exist, and they are determined to find faults in any aspect of the game that they can. These leaks may have handed them enough information to sully the game’s reputation, spinning a narrative of failure before the game has even released.

Gotta Catch ‘em all, Catch the Leaks

Nintendo are currently fighting to quash as many sources of the Pokemon Legends Arceus leaks as possible. Though it will likely prove impossible to put the genie back in the bottle altogether, the more comprehensive sources of spoilers will likely be taken down in the coming days. So, for now it could be better wait to out the worst of it and take a full unspoiled dive into Hisui on January 28th.
