The second trailer for Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet has just released. The trailer shows off a whole host of gameplay and new features for the game.

Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet Add Multiplayer

The trailer shows off the already announced starter pokemon (Quaxly, Sprigatito and Fuecoco), in addition to showing us both of the new legendary Pokémon in a CGI snippet at the end of the trailer.

Wildly, in what is a first for the Pokemon series, the trailer shows that the game will have four-player co-operative play which according to the official website will allow players to “explore the various locations of the region in these games with other players. You can discover new Pokemon and explore unfamiliar areas with your friends and family, opening the door to an adventure more precious and fun than ever!”

The website also describes a new type of Pokemon game, stating that “You can experience a new style of adventure, with a world that you’re free to explore at your leisure and not in an order dictated by the story”, heavily implying that the game is not set out in a linear fashion and you can pick any order to go in, similar to Pokemon Legends: Arceus from earlier this year, and will take a heavy detour from the traditional Pokemon style. Previous Pokemon games point the player in a specific direction while still allowing for exploration, whereas this game will seemingly allow you to do whatever you want.

What are these games?

Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet were both announced back in February as the first games in the ninth generation of Pokemon. They follow on from the already released Pokemon Legends: Arceus from earlier in this year, and last years Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl remakes, making this the third game in a year from the studio.
