The Grand Theft Auto remastered trilogy – a compilation featuring updated versions of the classic Rockstar titles GTA3, Vice City, and San Andreas – looks to have been properly named and rated. The three bundled GTA games were discovered yesterday on the Korean government’s Game Rating and Administration Committee (GRAC) website, entitled Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition. Furthermore, a report earlier today from Kotaku suggested that we could be playing the buffed-up PS2-era GTA games as soon as next month.

Although a remastered GTA Trilogy has been rumoured for months, it wasn’t until August that Rockstar effectively admitted the existence of efforts to bring its first three 3D GTAs up to date. It was assumed that the remastered games would launch on October 22, the 20th anniversary of the release of GTA3. However, given that Rockstar celebrated the 10th anniversary of the game by releasing the mobile version of GTA3 in December 2011, it’s more likely that Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition will receive a similar year-end release.

Remastered GTA Trilogy release date

Rockstar has said that it will have some surprises to reveal on GTA3’s 2021 anniversary on October 22, which we can only assume will be the announcement of a release date for the remastered trilogy. At that point, Rockstar will either announce the immediate availability of the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, or a likely release date for November or early December.

Whenever the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition is due to rock up (and let’s not forget it will be released for the Switch – the first GTA to appear on a Nintendo console since 2009’s Chinatown Wars), at least we can now put a name to the face.
