Rockstar Games has dropped a fresh trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI, offering another glimpse at the highly anticipated sequel’s characters, visuals, and tone. But as excitement builds, there’s one detail leaving many fans – well, PC fans – a little frustrated: GTA VI will not be launching on PC when it arrives on May 28, 2025. For now, only PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S users are invited to the party.
The trailer, which Rockstar confirmed was captured entirely in-game on a PlayStation 5, shows off some truly impressive real-time visuals. While the studio hasn’t released exact technical specs, the footage speaks volumes – dynamic lighting, environmental detail, and lifelike character animation all suggest that Rockstar is pushing the PS5 hardware hard.

What does this mean for PC players?
Given Rockstar’s history with staggered releases, it’s not a total shock that the PC version is coming later. But the fact that the studio is showcasing next-gen visuals rendered in-engine on a base PS5 raises an interesting question: what kind of technical upgrades could we expect when GTA VI eventually lands on PC?
The absence of PC doesn’t just mean a delay – it also leaves room for significant enhancements. Rockstar has previously delivered expanded versions of GTA titles on PC, and there’s little reason to think they won’t do the same here. That could mean support for ray tracing, AI upscaling like DLSS or FSR, higher resolutions, unlocked frame rates, and more granular graphical settings – all of which could result in GTA VI looking far better on PC than PS5.
However, with other AAA titles like Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and DOOM: The Dark Ages making ray tracing a minimum spec on PC, there’s some concern about just how demanding GTA VI might be on day one. Still, for PC users with modern hardware, the wait may pay off in visual fidelity and performance options.
For now, though, console players will get the first taste of Rockstar’s next epic. PC gamers will have to remain patient – and hopeful – that Rockstar is cooking up something special behind the scenes.
