Hot on the heels of all of the rumors swirling around, ASUS have announced their ROG STRIX RTX 3080 12GB graphics cards, which includes two SKUs, an overclocked version, in addition to a non-overclocked model. This GPU comes in the same flavor of ROG Strix cooling solution that we’ve come to expect from their line of current Ampere cards. Meaning these cards are very chunky, and addled with enough RGB to give even the most seasoned of Tomorrowland-goers a panic attack simply upon sight.
Fitted with 21 power phases in addition to requiring three 8-pin power connectors, the ROG STRIX RTX 3080 12GB is strictly for those who want the highest-end performance from their GPU of choice. A suite of premium components blesses the ROG Strix 3080 12GB model, which makes it one of the best choices for gamers who are also looking to overclock their cards for a slight boost to performance. Additionally, the overclocked model comes out of the box prepared for the highest clocks achievable, short of getting some dry ice to cool the die itself to get slightly more thermal headroom. (Please don’t try that at home, leave it to the experts.)
The ROG Strix 3080 12GB is also equipped with a dual BIOS feature that allows you to prioritize either clock speeds or quiet operation.
