As part of Geoff Keighley’s procession of world premieres at the Summer Game Fest, we got a first (sort of) look at Routine developed by Lunar Software and to be published by Raw Fury.

Routine is a first-person horror exploration game set on an abandoned moon base peppered with a good dose of 80s-inspired retro-futurism. Routine emerges as a revival of an identically-titled game initially set for release in March 2017.

Check out the new Summer Games Fest trailer below.

Here’s the official blurb accompanying the Routine re-reveal trailer:

”Curious exploration turns into a need for survival when a lunar base goes completely quiet. Searching for answers puts you face to face with an enemy who is certain the main threat is you. Discoveries lead to deeper unknowns and the only way to go is forward.”

Routine Gameplay and Features

As for the gameplay, Routine combines exploration through a sprawling Lunar station, traipsing through dilapidated malls and abandoned living quarters. This won’t come easy as players will need to avoid, or at worst, defend themselves against a sinister force.

Developer Lunar Software explains Routine aims to create an immersive experience, promising full-body awareness, dead-zone aiming, and minimal UI to stress the bleak atmosphere. Alongside, Routine upgrade system centers on a CAT – Cosmonaut Assistance Tool – fitted with modules to unlock fresh abilities and functionality.

Here’s the full list of features:

  • EXPLORE: Roam through contrasting sectors of the Lunar station, from abandoned malls to deteriorating Living Quarters.
  • IMMERSE: Full Body Awareness, Deadzone Aiming & minimal UI help create a gripping and atmospheric experience.
  • UPGRADE: Discover modules that unlock new functionality for the Cosmonaut Assistance Tool (C.A.T).
  • SURVIVE: Run, hide, or attempt to defend yourself using the C.A.T as a last resort.

Routine currently has not set release window, however, we do know its set to arrive on PC, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Xbox Game Pass.
