It’s almost time for Rust’s monthly content update and wipe and the official Twitter account has confirmed that this Thursday (3rd February) will be the big day.

The arctic biome will be the area receiving all the love with the devs at Facepunch already teasing a frozen arctic base, snowmobiles, and even polar bears – for when things aren’t dangerous enough in the game.

The AI will also get a boost and there will be some new paid-for cosmetics – although they have upset a corner of the player base as the items include a stat boost and this is being seen as a pay-to-win move, which is never going to be popular.

When is the Rust Arctic update?

The update and wipe will occur on Thursday 3rd February at 7 PM GMT / 2 PM EST – so you can expect a little downtime around then before heading out into the cold, frozen wastelands.

The venerable survival ’em-up passed its eighth birthday in December just gone, which is pretty remarkable and shows no signs of slowing down. This boost to the arctic areas should certainly help to keep things fresh and it is exciting to see what the devs have in store for the rest of 2022.

There are regular complaints that the console versions are not receiving the same love and even updates as the PC version, so it will be interesting to see where the focus will lie in the coming months.

Of course, Double11 are the devs for the PS4 and Xbox versions so things might not be as simple as they first seem. Time will tell and we will be watching this space carefully.
