Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 FE release date history

The Galaxy Tab FE is a fairly new addition to Samsung’s tablet series. It was first introduced with the Galaxy Tab S7 series, which was quite well-received as a toned-down budget version of Samsung’s expensive flagship tablet. Which probably prompted the company to continue the “Fan Edition” tab series.

For the Galaxy Tab S7 series, Samsung released flagship devices a year before launching the Galaxy Tab S7 FE. And the company is following the same pattern with the Galaxy Tab S8 FE, as the rest of the Tab S8 series devices were launched a year ago.

According to RGcloudS, Samsung is preparing to launch the Galaxy Tab S8 FE at this year’s second Unpacked event in August. The tech giant will probably reveal the budget-friendly Tab S8 FE alongside the flagship Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5. Other reports also indicate the devices’ August or September release date. 

Last year, the Galaxy S7 FE was also revealed at this event, reinforcing the chances of the Tab S8 FE being revealed at the same event.

It is still early to say anything definitively about the specs of the upcoming budget Samsung tablet. We can paint a clearer picture with more leaks and tips in the coming days. But here’s what we have at the moment. 

The Galaxy Tab S8 FE will reportedly launch with an LCD panel, not an AMOLED or OLED one. The resolution and refresh rate of the panel remains unknown at the moment. However, we have deduced Samsung has gone for the LCD panel to reduce the cost. If Samsung complements the LCD panel with a Wacom digitizer, the pen experience will still be great. 

Apart from the panel, we only know Samsung has allocated model number ‘SM-X506B’ for the Galaxy Tab S8 FE, where the ‘B’ indicates a European variant. A GeekBench test has also revealed the MediaTek Kompanio 900T chipset will power the Tab S8 FE. It is a 6 mm processor, very similar to MediaTek Dimensity 900.

Currently, the only FE model tablet from Samsung available in the market is the Galaxy Tab S7 FE which is worth buying. Consider it a perfect mid-range tablet with a good high-res display and included S pen.

Is the keyboard included with Samsung Tab S7 FE?

Samsung is selling a case/keyboard accessory with the Galaxy Tab S7 FE. It’s called Book Cover Keyboard, but it lacks a trackpad. Unfortunately, you must purchase this separately; it doesn’t come in the box.
