Update on September 22, 2021:  This leak was real and there’s a Nintendo Direct tomorrow. You can read more about it here.

Nintendo’s last Nintendo Direct AAA showcase event was back in June at E3 2021. It’s been three months since then, so of course fans are eager to hear from the company again. They shouldn’t have to wait too long however, as word is we may see something fairly soon.

Samus Hunter —a leaker that has been accurate in the past— claims we should see a Nintendo Direct within the month, after the launch of WarioWare Get It Together! on the Nintendo Switch family of systems.

WarioWare Get It Together! comes out on September 10, 2021, so we may not have long to wait at all. Leaker Samus Hunter has gone as far as to say that they “personally expect” it to be next week, pushed back from their previous September Nintendo Direct leak estimate of September 8 or September 9.

What has leaked from the September Nintendo Direct?

Sadly, this is a mod for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.

Final Super Smash Bros Ultimate Character

Masahiro Sakurai has announced that the next and final character for Fighters Pass 2 will be the final addition to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for Nintendo Switch before the developer gets some much deserved rest and then goes on to another project.

Nintendo has already confirmed that we will get a first look at the character before the end of 2021, so a September Nintendo Direct seems like as good a place to show them off as anywhere else. We’re hoping that it’s going to be Dr. Eggman from Sonic the Hedgehog, but that’s just us. Let us dream!

Game Boy and Game Boy Color for Nintendo Switch Online

It leaked back in August that several insiders and third party Nintendo developers had heard word that Game Boy and Game Boy Color games would be coming to the Nintendo Switch Online service.

We think it’s fairly likely, as this is the month that most NSO subscriptions are set to expire and they need to make sure that people stay. If you’d like to see a more in-depth article on this, we’ve got one here.

September Nintendo Direct Leak: Aragami 2

Stealthy ninja action game Aragami 2 has been rated by IMDA, the rating board in Singapore, for release on Nintendo Switch. Currently, the game has only been announced for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S, but the original Aragami did come out on Nintendo Switch eventually. Aragami 2 comes out on September 17, 2021, so whether it’s a surprise release or even a later port, we expect it to be at the next Nintendo event.

Games Unlikely To Be At The September Nintendo Direct

Samus Hunter did make sure to set some expectations as far as games go that they think won’t be at the September Nintendo Direct, including an often rumored 3D Donkey Kong game from Nintendo EPD (Super Mario Odyssey), a new Kirby title or a new entry in the Mario + Luigi RPG series.

We also would love to see more from the The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild sequel, but with how that game has been delayed into 2022, we’re not expecting to see more of it just yet.

Please remember to take all of the rumours and speculation with a grain of salt, as while there has been a September Nintendo Direct leak, Nintendo Directs leak more often than it rains in England. Hopefully Nintendo will give us confirmation of their next video showcase event soon. Until then, keep reading WePC.
