Sonic Origins Release Date & Everything We Know So Far

Sonic Origins is coming at us fast, and there’s a lot to break down about the game. We’re here to tell you all we know about the blue blurs new collection, from the new content in the game to the older content that fans of the series will likely already know all about. Gotta go fast!
What is Sonic: Origins?
Sonic: Origins is a brand new collection containing the beloved 2D Sonic titles from the SEGA Genesis and the SEGA Mega Drive. This means you’ll be able to play Sonic The Hedgehog 1, Sonic The Hedgehog 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and Sonic CD in a new remastered format, with some surprising new content thrown in for good measure.
Each of the games in this collection will have brand-new openings and ending animations that have been designed from the ground up by some brilliant animators to recapture the feel of the games that they’re introducing. There’s also a new mirror mode in which you have to beat each and every level from the game backward, trying not to get hit as your brain attempts to adjust to what on earth is going on, and the option to play Classic or Anniversary modes (Classic is what you might remember from the original series of games with limited lives, whereas Anniversary edition gives you infinite lives and a full-screen display). There’s also now a store in which you spend coins to find and unlock content from the history of Sonic, such as music from other games and the special stage itself. Sonic has never looked so crisp and has never looked as good as he looks in Sonic: Origins.
This is the definitive way to play the original 2D Sonic titles, featuring remastered graphics, new features, new content, new modes, full trophy support, and more. Really, what more can you ask for?
