Endnight Games have really shown that they’re hard at working making Sons of the Forest the best it can be. When the game first became available, they announced that they would be taking on player feedback on board as much as possible, and that certainly seems to be the case so far.

Best new features

We’re first treated to a selection of new features to look forward to once we get back in-game. Here are some of our favorites.

  • Added Binoculars – useful for scouting, or just taking in the view.
  • Added Hang Glider – more fun movement to play around with.
  • Added mid game boss fight into food bunker – more enemy variation is nice.
  • You can now lock doors – this makes building a secure base much more rewarding.
  • Fish trap is now working and more reliable – another handy way to source food.

Biggest new balance changes

  • Added sleep cooldown – This prevents abusing sleep to choose your time of day at will.
  • Possibility of Player Sleep Interruption – Change to sleeping that puts more emphasis on security.
  • Halved shotgun damage – a big, yet understandable, nerf.
  • Increased health on creepies depending on number of active players – this gives us some confirmation for scaling difficulty in multiplayer, no matter how small.

Improvements & bug fixes

  • LODs and optimization for wall torches – every performance change makes a difference!
  • Added radio to bunker food – This useful item is now a little easier to find.
  • Fixed Kelvin cutting down trees with player structures attached – this led to many treehouses being destroyed by your faithful companion, Kelvin.
  • Fixed being able to pass lock doors with a stick – Endnight sends apologies to speedrunners.
  • Lots of building and blueprint fixes – making the system much less janky is perfect.
  • Improvements to audio & many more changes – There are bug fixes across the board.
