Will Sony Announce The PS5 at CES 2020?

CES 2020 is here! The world’s largest consumer electronics convention sees some of the biggest brands in tech bring their latest products, announcements, and reveals to the stage with their keynote speeches and press conferences.

This year, WePC is here in the flesh, so we’re bringing you all the latest announcements as they happen (check out our CES 2020 page to stay up to date). But, there’s one company here that every gamer, and I mean all of us, are waiting for with bated breath – Sony.

Sony At CES 2020

With Microsoft announcing their next-gen console, the Xbox Series X, all eyes are now on Sony to see when they will follow suit.

Sony is holding a keynote speech at CES 2020 on Monday 6th January at 5pm PST (8pm EST, and 1am GMT), and WePC is going to be there in person to make sure that if they do announce it – you’ll be the first to know.

So, what can we expect Sony to announce?

Sony CES Announcements

Every year, industry insiders like to speculate what we’re going to see at these big events, and this year, that includes Sony.

We’re expecting to see something about their WH-1000XM4 wireless noise-cancelling headphones, even if it does just end up being on the show floor.

Mostly, since this is CES after all, we’re expecting to see some information on new TV models, specifically OLED and LED designs. There’s always a huge number of TV launches at the event, so this year should be no different.

Will Sony Announce PS5 At CES?

But, the big question is whether Sony will announce their next-gen PS5 console. Our prediction? Probably not. Sony like to keep their big gaming announcements for their own State of Play events. But, that doesn’t mean it’s a definite “no”.

They may decide to bring the announcement forward thanks to Microsoft’s unexpected reveal late last year. Really, only time will tell. But, we’ll be there to make sure that you hear it as soon as it happens!
