Square Enix have finally set a release date for Spider-Man’s upcoming appearance in Avengers on PS4 and PS5. Spidey will arrive alongside a new story content pack called “With Great Power”, that will detail the hero’s first encounter with the Avengers team of the Square Enix created Marvel Game Universe that was recently expanded by Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.

What is the Spider-Man release date for Marvel’s Avengers on PS4 and PS5?

Spider-Man is finally being added to Marvel’s Avengers on November 30, 2021. J. Jonah Jameson’s arch-nemesis is a PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 exclusive character, so his content will only be available on those consoles.

When playing as Spider-Man, you’ll be able to take full advantage of his strange acrobatic prowess and radioactive spider powers of super strength and wall crawling. The press release on his inclusion in the upcoming update reads as follows:

“The legendary web slinger Spider-Man will come exclusively to PlayStation players in the November 30th update along with the Spider-Man: With Great Power Hero Event. Spider-Man’s high-flying acrobatics bring an entirely new way to experience the game either solo or with friends, and his unique movement and combat abilities are sure to be a great addition to any Strike Team taking on missions in the Avengers Initiative.

Players will experience Spider-Man’s story through unlockable challenges woven throughout the Avengers Initiative. Peter Parker learns of a deadly new threat and must partner with the Avengers to stop AIM from acquiring technology that could make their synthoid army unstoppable.

Insistent on keeping his identity hidden, Parker forms a tentative friendship with Ms. Marvel and Black Widow and must struggle with the new dynamics of working with a team. Will he join up full time with the Avengers, or stay independent in his fight against AIM?”

We’re not keen on the platform exclusivity deal for Spider-Man content, as it makes the other platform versions (that cost the same) seem less good. There’s also still no word on what Spider-Man will look or sound like in the DLC, nor how close it will be to Insomniac’s popular PlayStation exclusive version. We look forward to seeing it, and hope they put out a preview ahead of the character’s launch. What we’re saying really, is that we’d like pictures. Pictures of Spider-Man.
