Suicide Squad game rumored to be Epic Store exclusive

Given how much DC Comics stuff has been appearing in Fortnite of late, a rumor that the PC version of Rocksteady Studios’s Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League will be exclusive to the Epic Store doesn’t appear in the least bit fanciful.

We were expecting to see and hear more about Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League at the upcoming DC FanDome 2021, which is taking place October 16. News regarding six months of Epic Store exclusivity was apparently part of whatever else we’ll be treated to when the DC Comic universe reveals its secrets.

The unsubstantiated rumor originated on Reddit and its source also mentioned that the Suicide Squad game would, unsurprisingly, be a third-person affair. Players could also expect regular game updates that expand the game’s open world beyond the city of Metropolis.

As well as its vague 2022 release date, what we do know for sure is that Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League will pit Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, and King Shark (aka the Suicide Squad) against antagonist Brainiac, who in the game’s reveal trailer had Superman in thrall to his evil plans. All four of the squad members will be playable, with the player able to switch between them at any time. There’ll also be a four-player co-op mode.

The highly-anticipated open world action adventure, from the studio behind the Batman Arkham series, was announced at DC FanDome in 2020, prior to which a “hardcore violent” Suicide Squad was understood to have been in development as early as 2010 at WB Games Montreal (creators of Batman: Arkham Origins). That project was cancelled in 2016, paving the way for Rocksteady to work their magic with the popular DC franchise.

Whatever the truth in the Suicide Squad Epic Store rumor, we’ll know more next month.
