As the resident Sims super-fan, I had to take a moment to calm down last night as we saw the reveal for the latest expansion pack to hit our shelves. Because, as I’m sure you’ve figured out from the title of this post, The Sims 4 is getting a goddam STAR WARS EXPANSION, and it looks so good. So, let’s dive in and look at what we know about the latest Sims 4 expansion pack.

The trailer for this latest expansion premiered during the opening night of Gamescom 2020 and brought us our first new game pack since Realm of Magic released back in 2019. For the uninitiated, The Sims releases a range of add-on content including Game Packs, Expansion Packs, and Stuff Packs.

Stuff Packs bring in a bunch of new items to the game, Expansion Packs bring in the big changes that impact the whole game, and then Game Packs are in the middle of the two and offer a mixture of stuff, new neighborhoods, and storylines. This means we can expect a nice chunk of new content with this Game Pack to fully immerse ourselves in the Star Wars world.

We have a new location to travel to in the form of Batuu, the setting for Disney’s Star Wars theme park, Galaxy’s Edge. There’s a Millennium Falcon there, the famous Cantina, and familiar faces dotted all around. You have the choice of gaining reputation with different factions within the Star Wars universe including teaming up with Rey and the Resistance, or Kylo Ren and the First Order.

We also got a glimpse at some of the new CAS options and build mode items, all fitting into the Star Wars theme (and yes, that includes lightsabers and droids!).

The Sims 4 Star Wars: Journey To Batuu will be available to purchase on Tuesday, September 8th, 2020 and you can grab a copy for Xbox One, PS4, or PC. PC versions will be available from Steam and Origin.

As with all of The Sims 4 packs, you’ll need the base game in order to play it. To make sure your PC can run The Sims 4, make sure you check the necessary system requirements.
