Yoru was one of the most anticipated agents in Valorant but soon after his release, his play rate declined. Riot Games has been working on a rework for the agent for months and fans might finally consider picking him up in ranked and competitive play. One of the abilities that are being changed in Valorant patch 4.0.3 is Fakeout, an ability that currently directionally mimics the sound of Yoru’s footsteps to mislead enemies. It is now a full copy of Yoru, that runs forward, and when damaged, explodes and debuffs enemies.

What to Expect From Valorant Patch 4.0.3?

With the new update, Riot Games wanted to fix some of the unintended play patterns that have shown up in-game with Yoru. The rework will give Yoru the tools to gain ground on enemies using stealth and initiate the rest of his team to follow. An added delay to his invulnerability stops Yoru from relying too much on running around with his mask in his hand and jamming it on at the first sight of danger.

Valorant Update 4.0.3 Patch Notes

Here are the highlights of the new patch:

  • Yoru’s Nearsighted is removed
  • Yoru’s unequip delay time is increased slightly
  • Cast delay added when casting Yoru’s Dimensional Drift, preventing the invulnerability frame upon cast.

The new Yoru rework might completely change Valorant’s competitive metagame if he becomes meta following his rework. To check out the full patch notes, click here.
