Steam’s Big Picture is a mode designed for use with your TV and game controller, letting you enjoy your Steam games from the comfort of your couch. Big Picture is a bit hit and miss for some, with no substantial updates since 2015 but that is all this is about to change.

A user on the Big Picture discussion boards posed the question, to which a Valve Spokesperson confirmed that they intend to replace Big Picture with their new UI from the Steam Deck.

Unsurprisingly, this response was met with a hail of admiration and delight, with many stating how the Steam Deck UI makes Big Picture look outdated. The Deck UI looks superior in every way and could be a major step for Valves console-like plans.

Considering Valve said the Deck is running the standard Steam client, they wouldn’t want to maintain/update two different client branches, so the replacement isn’t all that surprising but it is certainly exciting. Valve hasn’t given an ETA for the new UI replacement but the Deck is set for sale in December, with some incredibly high demand.
