Wasteland 3 DLC Cult of the Holy Detonation Announced, Will Be The Final Expansion

The Xbox gamescom 2021 stream was a fairly dry affair, with very little in terms of new info on most of their upcoming big releases. New game premieres were also basically nowhere to be seen, so it mostly felt like a waste of time. Thankfully recently acquired first-party developer inXile showed up, bringing with them their newest (and final) expansion DLC for Wasteland 3.

It’s called Cult of the Holy Detonation, and will be released on October 8, 2021.

In the latest Wasteland 3 DLC, nuclear post-apocalypse roleplayers will be tasked with taking a trip to the Cheyenne Mountain complex. A nuclear explosion has been held in stasis and has started to be worshipped by — well let’s call them what they are — crazy mutants. You’ll have to fight your way to the altar with your squad and then decide what happens to it.

With a focus on achieving objectives and tactical decision making, Cult of the Holy Detonation looks to be unlike the other Wasteland 3 DLC packs that came before it.

inXile’s blog post on the game says that “Your squad of Rangers will be tested like never before in objective-based encounters that put a creative spin on the already deeply tactical turn-based combat. As they face overwhelming odds, the Rangers will need to shut down reactors, clear ventilation systems, and engage defensive countermeasures to stem an unending tide of dangerous mutants and machines within the dilapidated military bunker.”

Where can I buy the Wasteland 3 DLC?

Cult of the Holy Detonation will also add new weapons, armor and enemy types to the intense nuclear adventure. You can get the content update by itself for $6.99 or as part of the expansion pass for $19.99. The expansion pass also contains the first DLC expansion pack The Battle of Steeltown.

Wasteland 3 is available on Xbox, PlayStation and PC. It’s also on Xbox Game Pass, so if you’ve got that then Microsoft will give you a 10% discount on any Wasteland 3 content.
