When are the Washington Commanders coming to Madden 22?
Here comes the new Washington Football Team and it's future branding but when will we get to play with them?

Big news incoming from the NFL as the Washington franchise, known for the last 20 or so months as Washington Football Team after (finally) ditching the Redskins monicker, now has a new proper, permanent name – the Washington Commanders – which we actually quite like.
So what does that leave us with in Madden 22? We have had the WFT for a good while now so we expect EA to move relatively swiftly to make the change and insert Washington’s new branding into the game. After all, it is unlikely they have only just found out about it and have probably been able to work on it for some time under NDA.
It is possible of course we may have to wait for Madden 23, but we hope not. EA has not said anything yet but the clamor from fans to know what is going on and when the change will happen in-game is only going to grow and grow.
Update: Unconfirmed at this stage but Apptrigger is reporting they have had confirmation from an EA rep that the Commanders won’t arrive in Madden until Madden 23. More on this if it gets confirmed.
“The Washington Football Team will be updated to the new Washington Commander nickname, uniforms, and logo in Madden NFL 23.”
Will fans expect to wait until the new Madden game towards the end of the year? It is a bit of a unique problem for the publisher as they will surely want to be seen at the forefront of this historic change.
We also lost the legendary name behind the franchise, John Madden, recently too, so EA could well be planning a tribute with Madden 23 for that. Would be great to see the big man as the cover star of the next game, wouldn’t it?
Will the Washington Commanders be in Madden 23?
Without a doubt. It would be a huge error to not get them into the next Madden game, the question we are waiting for EA to answer is when will they arrive in Madden 22?
Meanwhile, Madden fans haven’t exactly greeted the name change with glee and joy with many taking to Twitter to say it sounds more like a name that has been randomly generated by a computer. There’s no pleasing everybody though and before long it will be like the team was never called anything else.
