Update – 30/07/21 – The AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT was officially revealed and from AMDs testing, showcased more performance than the RTX 3060 equivalent. We are going to be keeping our eyes out for retail listings over the coming days, updating this page daily.

The AMD Radeon RX 6600 and RX 6600 XT are two of the latest graphics cards from the Red team which aim to take on the mid-range graphics card market.

On the below page we will be discussing all the things you need to know about both the RX 6600 and the RX 6600 XT if you are thinking of buying an either graphics card. The price of both GPUs and their release dates will be discussed, and we will be sharing links to both graphics cards from all major stockists in the US, UK, Canada, and Europe.

What are the AMD Radeon RX 6600 & RX 6600 XT specifications?

The AMD Radeon RX 6600 and RX 6600 XT are both supposed to be more affordable entires in AMD’s RDNA 2 graphics card range. Price and performance-wise they are mid-tier GPUs, and so will (hopefully) prove appealing to the majority of gamers who cannot afford the very high-end graphics cards.

The Radeon RX 6600 is thought to be of roughly comparable performance to the Nvidia RTX 3060, with the RX 6600 XT being a superior card that lies somewhere between the RTX 3060 and RTX 3060 Ti in performance (being better than both at 1080p in FPS terms, though lacking the same Ray-Tracing ability and being beaten by the RTX 3060 Ti at 4K).

Both graphics cards are based on the Navi 23 chip and will come with 8GB GDDR6 VRAM at launch (equal to the RTX 3060 Ti), though the RX 6600 XT will have the capacity for this to be increased to 16GB in AIB versions. It is also thought that both cards will have the same 128-bit memory bus, and therefore the same memory bandwidth as the other entries in the RX 6000 series.

The main differences between the Radeon RX 6600 and the RX 6600 XT will be the number of cores (1792 and 2048 respectively) and also the Boost clock speed (around 2600 MHz for the RX 6600 XT, depending on the AIB and supposedly 2491 MHz for the RX 6600, but this has yet to be confirmed).

The key specifications for the RX 6600 XT are as follows:

Compute Units : 32
Game Clock : 2359MHz
Infinity Cache : 32MB
VRAM : 8GB GDDR6
TDP : 160W 1×8 pin

You will be able to use the standard 500W PSU to power the graphics card.

The key specifications for the RX 6600 are as follows:

Compute Units : 28
Game Clock : 2491 MHz
Infinity Cache : 32MB
VRAM : 8GB GDDR6
TDP : 132W 1×8 pin

AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT & RX 6600 Release Date

The AMD Radeon 6600 XT release date was August 11, 2021.

This release date covered all the third party AIBs such as MSI, ASUS, Gigabyte, as there was not a stock version of this particular GPU.

The AMD Radeon 6600 release date is October 13, 2021.

AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT & RX 6600 Price

We were hoping that the AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT would come in at around the MSRP of the RTX 3060 – i.e. $329 – however it seems that AMD has priced the GPU relative to the inflated market prices of the past two years, going with an MSRP for the RX 6600 XT of $379. AIB versions from third party manufacturers will come at different prices of course.

Although on the face of it this might be disappointing, in practice you are never going to find an RTX 3060 for anything close to $329, given the ongoing graphics card shortage, and so $379 actually represents a reasonable price, assuming stocks of the RX 6600 XT last.

A RX 6600 XT would then be a viable substitute for an Nvidia RTX 3060 – especially if you have a Zen 3 Ryzen CPU which means your setup can take advantage of Smart Access Memory to unlock those extra FPS.

Of course in this age of inflated market prices and short supply, you will be lucky to get hold of either of these cards for these prices, though thankfully AMD cards tend to have less of a markup than their Nvidia rivals.

The latest estimations for the MSRP of the RX 6600 are around the $330 mark, but only time will tell if this is accurate.
