How much is the ROG Ally?

The exact cost was a little bit up in the air initially, though we knew it would be more expensive that the Steam Deck. Valve’s handheld system (the Steam deck) costs from $399 to $649, an affordable price mark that is offset by Valve’s game sales and continued support from the software.

Some sources claimed that the ROG Ally will start out at $599 for the base model, and a supposed leak places the Z1 Extreme 16GB RAM / 512GB storage variant at $699. Another rumor that turned out to be true. The current prices listed on various sites are as below.

  • AMD Z1 Extreme Processor 512GB: $699.99 / £699

Should I buy the ASUS ROG Ally on launch day?

There’s plenty of reason why you would want to get your hands on this exciting new gaming handheld from day one. Once all of the details are revealed, we advise you to do a comparison with the Steam Deck and see if the price and specs are worth it. Overall though, we expect the demand to be relatively high – so getting in early is a good idea if you don’t want to miss out.

Pre-orders are another good way of securing your new gaming handheld. If possible, pre-order the ROG Ally instead of waiting until launch day if you’re already certain you want to buy it.
