Intel’s newest discrete graphics card, the B580, will be the first of two cards to launch from the upcoming Battlemage lineup – set to hit shelves on the 13th of December at all major hardware retailers. It was officially unveiled during the brand’s “Meet Intel Arc B-Series Graphics” event last week, where the GPU was pitted against some of the market’s most popular offerings.
According to Intel’s earliest benchmarks and marketing materials, the B580 will go toe-to-toe with NVIDIA’s RTX 4060, the second most widely-used GPU from Steam’s 130-million user audience. Intel has set an MSRP at around $249 for the new card; however, with AIBs launching their own variants, pricing may vary depending on clock speeds and cooling,

The B580 is released, and we expect a wide range of GPU availability. We don’t know how much Intel has in stock; given that the reviews have been pretty good for the B580, it might very well go the way of the 9800X3D and sell out quickly. As with everything popular, look for suspicious listings sold by questionable sources.

Reviews are in, and the general opinion is very good
LinusTechTips calls the B580 the “best budget GPU released in over 5 years,” which is a pretty good endorsement. It is challenging to target the sub $300 mark and make a good product that brings actual value, but Intel seems to have pulled it off. Gamers Nexus said the “B580 is far more reliable than the Alchemist cards were at launch.” We all know that Alchemist had more than a few hiccups around the start of its life, and it’s a relief to see that Intel seems to have squashed many of those bugs for a more stable Battlemage launch. JayzTwoCents also went as far as to call it an “RTX 4060 killer” in a thumbnail, calling the B580 an “under-promised and over-delivered” case, which is refreshing.
The B580 is shaping up to be very competitive in the low-end GPU market; it may even pull ahead of the RTX 4060 in the Steam Hardware survey if the early reviews are anything to go off. But it’ll probably be a while before that happens. For now, we’ll have to wait and see if the long-term performance holds and if the drivers continue to improve upon the GPU.
How much will the Intel Arc B580 cost on release?
Intel announced the Arc B580 during the brand’s live event on YouTube, revealing the official $249 price point. Intel also unveiled that numerous AIBs will launch their own versions of the B580, so expect pricing to vary depending on specs, cooling, and factory overclocking presets. However, there are suggestions that the European prices are a tad higher than they should be.
We’ve already seen B580 models go live on numerous retailers, with bloated pricing seen on Amazon a few days ago. Pre-launch listings are also live on Newegg’s website, where pricing is slightly more realistic.
Is there more to come from Intel’s Battlemage lineup?
At the time of writing, only two GPUs have been unveiled under the Battlemage lineup – the B570 and B580. That said, strong rumours suggest a B770 will be on the way.
If confirmed, the Intel Arc B770 will be a more powerful offering that will likely target more demanding games and higher resolutions. The B580 is a 1440p-tailored GPU, so the Battlemage series has no 4K option.
Of course, Intel has confirmed nothing yet, so we’ll likely have to wait and see. Additionally, with the launch in a few short days, it seems increasingly unlikely that a third card will be unveiled in the next few days.
