The Intel Core i5-12400 has yet to be officially confirmed, but chances are we will see this entry in Intel’s 12th generation of processors, aka Alder Lake CPUs, at some point in the near future. The Intel 12th gen CPUs come with a new hybrid architecture, which mixes bigger high-performance and smaller high-efficiency cores, however, we believe the i5-12400 will only feature regular cores and threads.

The release date for the Intel Core i5-12400 is unknown at this stage. We think they will release the three main SKUs first (i9-12900K, i7-12700K, and i5-12600K), with the rest following in 2022. We believe pre orders start from the 27th of October, indicating the launch is very close.

Until the launch, there are no concrete prices across any of the SKUs but for budding buyers who miss out on the initial stock, you should be able to pre order the i5-12400 CPU from all the major retailers.
One thing we are confident about is that the 12th generation Intel processors are likely to be more expensive than the 11th gen. This is obviously down to them featuring more cores and in theory, they should be faster too, making the pricing a little easier to stomach.
