The 5 Best 24 Inch Monitors | Complete Guide

Best 24 Inch Monitors

The last ten or so years have seen some pretty huge changes occur within the monitor industry - with a lot of people now leaning towards larger displays for their gaming and work task needs. Having said that, there's still a significant demand for 24-inch monitors in today's market. Whether you're a competitive esports player or just need a smaller panel for your compact desk, there are a ton of quality displays in this size to choose from.

In this guide, we've decided to compile a list of only the very best 24-inch monitors the market has to offer. Each has been carefully tested by our expanding team of PC enthusiasts to ensure your next monitor purchase is the right one.

So, with all that in mind, let's take a brief look at some of the contenders!

Best 240Hz 24inch monitor
BenQ ZOWIE XL2540 240Hz

BenQ ZOWIE XL2540 240Hz

If you're a gamer that likes to watch esports, then you'll probably recognize this monitor. It does the rounds with a lot of esports pros as it's one of the best in the business when it comes to competitive esports.

For me, the BenQ XL2540 is, by far, the best 24inch monitor for gamers.

For serious esports players, I can't think of a better recommendation within the 24-inch monitor category. This thing comes with all the premium features you really want to see in a gaming monitor. High refresh rate, rapid response time, and G-Sync are just a few of the features the XL2540 has to offer.

Best 24 inch curved monitor
AOC C24G1 24″ Curved Frameless Gaming Monitor

AOC C24G1 24″ Curved Frameless Gaming Monitor

When we think of a curved monitor, we usually think of pretty large 34-inch+ premium panels that offer all the premium features you could expect - accompanied with a price tag to match.

The AOC, however, is a (fairly affordable) 24-inch curved gaming monitor that offers everything you'd want for a more immersive gaming experience.

With a sleek, elegant design, the AOC C24G1 is one of the most attractive panels on this list. It offers a 1500R curvature, low response times, and excellent refresh rates. That makes this monitor a great all-rounder, to say the least.

ASUS VG245H 24″ Monitor

ASUS VG245H 24″ Monitor

ASUS's VG245H gaming monitor might be affordable, but it's by no means "cheap" in performance. It offers everything a budding gamer would need to get them up and running - and at a price tag that isn't going to destroy the bank.

We've been a big fan of the VG245H for a good while now, and that's because we've struggled to find anything (in its price range) that offers the same impressive array of features that this does.

ViewSonic VP2468 Professional 24 inch 1080p Monitor

ViewSonic VP2468 Professional 24 inch 1080p Monitor

Viewsonic has been going up in my estimations for some time now thanks to the abundance of high-quality monitors they've released into the market.

This, their VP2468 is a fine example of an extremely affordable monitor that'll serve any creator well for years to come.

Our video editor's pick goes to the Viewsonic, and for good reason. Amongst a plethora of other features, the Viewsonic offers excellent color recreation thanks to its wide color gamut.

Philips 246E9QDSB 24″ Frameless Monitor

Philips 246E9QDSB 24″ Frameless Monitor

When I think of monitors, my mind doesn't immediately jump to Philips. Having said that, this entry-level monitor comes to the table showcasing some of the best value for money in this guide.

For those of you that are on a strict budget, we couldn't recommend the Philips enough. It boasts a very attractive design, pretty good gaming specs, and comes to the table with a price tag that is unrivaled in this guide.

How We Choose

Whether we're reviewing new monitors or the best GPU on the market, choosing the right hardware can always be a tricky task.

It requires hours of product research, performance benchmarking, and reviewing user feedback to get anywhere close to a definitive conclusion on what to recommend.

If you aren't tech-savvy and struggle to put the time aside to go through the above requirements, you may end up purchasing a GPU that simply isn't right for you.

Fear not though, friends! Here at WePC, we like to take the stress of research away, and transform the whole process into an easy-to-follow, complete buyers guide. That's right, our team of PC enthusiasts has done all the hard work for you!

How We Test

Testing the products we recommend is a huge part of the overall selection process in our best of guides. It's a way to make sure what we recommend is, without a doubt, the best option in its specific category.

To be sure a product is "the best," it must show excellent performance in our tests, and display better qualities and features than the competition it faces.

Most of the products we recommend here at WePC have gone through a strict testing process that involves everything from the price and performance, to build quality, efficiency, and aesthetics. Each product is pushed to the limit to see how it performs under intense stress to make sure it warrants our coveted top spot.

Doing this enables us to provide you with the most accurate review of how the product performs and, ultimately, whether it's worth your hard-earned cash.

Things To Consider

It can be a complicated process choosing your next hardware upgrade, especially in the technology world, where each hardware component has a bunch of areas to consider. For that reason, we always like to try and educate our readers on the most important factors of a particular component.

Whether you're looking for a new mouse upgrade or a high-end prebuilt PC, ensuring our readers are well educated to make an informed decision on their next purchase is high on our priority list.

With that in mind, let's take a look at what we consider the most important areas to consider in a 24-inch monitor.

Does Size Matter?

The size of your monitor can affect several different areas that include; maximum resolution, pixel density, aspect ratio, and picture quality. These are all pretty significant factors that will affect your overall user experience. So, to answer the question in short, yes. Yes, it does.

If you have a fixed budget or limited desk space, however, maybe 24 inches is your only option. In that case, there are some simple guidelines to follow when looking to purchase a smaller display.

  • Max res. of 1080p is usually best
  • A higher resolution isn't always better with smaller displays
  • Great for multiple monitor setups
  • Excellent for esports gaming
  • TN for gaming, IPS for creators, VA offers middle-ground

Resolution

Your monitor's maximum resolution is, for me, one of the most important areas to consider when purchasing a 24-inch monitor. It has a massive impact on the image quality of the picture and an increased demand on your system's graphics. Two areas that will have a pretty significant impact on your overall experience.

Most of the monitors in this guide have a 1920 x 1080 maximum resolution, and I feel that's the way it should be for a 24-inch monitor. Increasing the max res on a small 24-inch display has very limited benefits, apart from greater screen real-estate.

The monitor's resolution refers to how many physical pixels the screen is displaying. For example sake, 1920 x 1080 means your monitor has 1920 pixels horizontally and 1080 pixels vertically. So, with that in mind, when you move up the "resolution spectrum," as we'll call it, you are physically increasing the number of pixels you can see.

Sounds great, right? Well, when you only have a limited 24-inch display to play with, you are limiting the amount of impact higher resolutions have on the image quality. Obviously, there's nothing wrong with a higher resolution 24-inch monitor, but for me, anything larger than 1080p is unoptimized for the size.

Below is a handy chart that will outline the most recommended resolution for specific monitor sizes.

Multiple Monitor Setups

The great thing about a smaller display is that - if you have the space to accommodate them - they are very good when it comes to dual/triple monitor setups.

As far as office work is concerned, most people will feel a little frustrated by the lack of screen space a 24-inch monitor provides. However, thanks to their affordable price tag and almost frameless designs, a 24-inch monitor is the perfect choice for a dual setup.

Gaming

When I imagine a monitor for gaming, it goes one of two ways. You either go specialized esports monitor or all-round entertainment monitor. The two are quite different.

If you want the best visuals and highest levels of realism, you're probably going to want to get a 27"+ display. Having said that, the esports player's main choice still seems to be a 24-inch 1080p panel.

A smaller panel is better equipped to accommodate higher refresh rates, which in turn,  offer much smoother overall gameplay.

BenQ ZOWIE XL2540 240Hz

Choosing the best 24-inch monitor for gaming was a pretty easy choice. BenQ's XL2540 offers every premium feature you could want to take your esports to the next level.

As far as aesthetics go, BenQ has kept the XL2540 pretty basic, and that's OK. This monitor isn't meant to dazzle you with sleek aesthetics. It's an all-out gaming monitor. The flappy panels are a little strange in both functionality and design if truth be told, but they play a real part in this monitors design.

Alongside the light-blocking, immersion boosting flappy panels, the XL2540 comes equipped with a 240Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time, Black Equalizer feature, multiple display profiling, and G-Sync support.

This is the perfect blend of features for an esports gamer. The fast refresh rate - of which nothing else in this list comes close - is ideal for the smoothest gameplay. Furthermore, the low response time it's equipped with will ensure zero image ghosting occurs during the heat of battle. The black equalizer feature is something that can be adjusted using the display's control panel and helps reduce the dark areas of a game. You'll be able to see where others can't, basically.

Finally, we have G-Sync. G-Sync is a feature that helps sync your FPS and refresh rate to increase the smoothness of the video playback.

Overall, the BenQ XL2540 smashes the competition when it comes to 24-inch monitors for gaming and should be a serious consideration if you want to take your gameplay to the next level.

#2

AOC C24G1 24″ Curved Frameless Gaming Monitor

AOC is a growing brand within the monitor industry thanks to excellent arrivals such as their C24G1 24-inch curved gaming monitor.

If you're looking for a small curved display, this is our number one recommendation. Thanks to an abundance of quality features, which include; 144Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time, and decent viewing angles, this monitor sails past the competition.

The curvature of the display is 1500R, which is pretty decent for a small display. It adds plenty of immersion to both gaming and general usage - something we're big fans of. The stand is fairly functional, and the design is both attractive and sleek.

It comes with a modest control panel that allows users to choose through a selection of presets and adjust the picture to their liking.

Ultimately, we wouldn't usually recommend a curved display of this size. But thanks to a number of high-end features, we're more than happy to call this our best 24-inch curved monitor.

ASUS VG245H 24″ Monitor

The ASUS VG245H Gaming Monitor might not be the most expensive or most luxury monitor on this list, however, it's certainly one of the cheapest - especially for gaming. Don't let that fool you though, this monitor still comes to the table with a bunch of decent features that are going to increase your overall experience.

This monitor showcases excellent value for money and can currently be purchased for well under $200. Features include a 75Hz refresh rate, a rapid 1ms response time, FreeSync technology, and an eye-care package as well.

FreeSync, as you may already know, is AMD's version of G-Sync. It allows your monitor to sync its refresh rate to your systems FPS output - leading to a much smoother gaming experience. This monitor comes with ASUS's GamePlus feature that allows users to customize crosshairs and apply on-screen timers for benchmarking videos.

ASUS has gone for the classic gaming panel, the TN panel. That means viewing angles aren't the best and neither are the colours. Having said that, where this monitor falls short in colour recreation, it makes up for it in smooth gameplay. With a monitor of this price, we're happy to make those sacrifices.

Overall, for under $200 you are getting one of the best monitors in its price range. It offers great in-game performance and also comes with the peace of mind that buying from ASUS gives you.

#4

ViewSonic VP2468 Professional 24 inch 1080p Monitor

Next up is the Viewsonic VP2468 professional monitor. It gets our best 24-inch monitor for video editing spot with ease. As a creator, there are certain aspects you require from a monitor to ensure your work comes to life as you would expect. Thankfully, this monitor has those qualities in abundance.

Looking at the design briefly, the VP comes to the table with a subtle aesthetic. It is predominantly made out of plastic and is fairly boxy for the most part. Having said that, Viewsonic has spent more time on the specs of this monitor than it's appearance, so don't be too disheartened.

The VP has been equipped with a 60hz refresh rate (entry-level), a 1080p maximum resolution, and an IPS panel, which has pretty decent viewing angles and excellent color recreation. As far as colors go, it comes with a 129% coverage of the sRGB color gamut, which can produce incredibly realistic imagery.

For me, it comes to the table at a very attractive price tag and should top your list of potential displays if you're looking to get into more creative past times.

#5

Philips 246E9QDSB 24″ Frameless Monitor

Finally, we have our budget, all-round pick, and it comes in the shape of the 246E9QDSB from Philips.

When we think of monitors, we don't usually think of Philips right off the bat. Having said that, this particular monitor showcases some of the best value for money on our guide. It's been equipped with a 75Hz refresh rate, a full HD IPS panel, FreeSync support, and a 129% sRGB color gamut.

For me, that's the perfect balance of specs for someone that likes to do some light gaming as a hobby, but also does more creative workflows as well. At a price tag that is currently under $100, you can't argue with the value either.

The aesthetics are pretty good with this one as well. Thin bezels mean you can easily adapt a dual-monitor setup, and a metallic stand makes the whole image sing.

Ultimately, our best budget 24-inch monitor!

27-Inch Vs. 24-Inch Monitor

One of the big questions we get asked here at WePC is whether or not you should choose a 27-inch or 24-inch display for your next monitor purchase. It's a somewhat difficult question to answer because, even though they aren't that far away in size, they usually vary significantly in price and performance.

Here are some of the key things to consider when deciding whether to go 27-inch or 24-inch:

24-inch monitors

  • are usually better for esports
  • are usually cheaper
  • are generally better for dual monitor setups
27-inch monitors
  • generally provide a much better image
  • allow for greater screen resolutions
  • offer better overall entertainment value

Obviously, you should take these with a pinch of salt. These rules won't always apply to a 27/24-inch monitor comparison. But as a general rule, these are pretty good to live by.

Final Thoughts

So, there you have it, our comprehensive breakdown of the best 24-inch monitors the market currently has to offer. If all that was a little too much to take in at once, here's the shortened rundown for you:
