Amazon Prime Day Deals 2019: Everything You Need to Know to Get the BEST DEALS

Amazon prime day 2018

UPDATE: Amazon Prime Day is now live!

Amazon Prime Day 2019 is just around the corner and it’s time to start getting ready for this highly anticipated summer sale. Amazon Prime Day grows each year and this year is no exception.

This year, they’ve included a Prime Day concert headlined by Taylor Swift, as well as including lots of extra content through their Twitch Prime programme. The event itself will begin on July 15th and last for a whopping 48 hours, ending on July 16th.

Aside from the fact that this is going to be the longest Prime Day ever, here are all the things you need to know about this year’s Prime Day event with links to some of the best deals and exclusives they offer to Prime members.

Best Prime Day Deals 2019

Amazon’s own products will no doubt play a large part in the deals for the Prime Day event with prices potentially dropping even lower than last Black Friday.

Since this is Amazon Prime Day’s 5th anniversary, this event is expected to not only be the longest Prime Day yet but could also feature the best Prime Day deals ever.

It’s likely that you already know what Amazon Prime Day is, however not everyone has taken advantage of this summer sale bonanza. Below we will go into exactly what Amazon Prime Day is, any differences to previous years, and whether or not it is worth signing up to Prime for the event.

What is Amazon Prime Day?

Amazon celebrated their 20th year with a blast in 2015 and hosted an event called Prime Day. The event is similar to Black Friday but set in July with tonnes of deals from Amazon basics to 4K monitors.

This year’s Prime Day could feature the highest amount of deals yet with it being the 5th year anniversary of the event. Amazon always has deals running throughout the year but Prime members will enjoy the largest of those deals in a few weeks.

You can find big deals on Alexa-enabled products, Fire tablets, Fire TV, and much more. We have listed specific products and deals below so make sure you check them out. You can check out some deals currently available if you are getting a little bit impatient for the summer sale.

Anything New with Amazon Prime Day 2019?

Looking back at the previous Amazon Prime Day events, it seems they are often quite similar. You’ll be getting tonnes of discounts and great deals but there’s actually more to it than meets the eye.

Here are the things that make this year’s Amazon Prime Day different:

  • It’s going to be the longest Prime Day yet
  • Like last year, we imagine Whole Foods shoppers will get a discount on selected items
  • The launch of the new Prime Day Concert
  • Twitch Prime Livestream events throughout Prime Day
  • Prime Day launches – new items, special edition products from hundreds of established and trusted brands. Learn more about it here

We are expecting some of the biggest and best deals we have ever seen from an Amazon Prime Day event this year as they always seem to outdo themselves. These deals will potentially include Apple products, TV’s, Amazon products, and much more.

How Does Amazon Prime Day Work?

Amazon Prime Day is an event exclusively for Amazon Prime customers. If you are a signed up member of Prime then you can expect deals, discounts, free and fast deliveries, music, and video streaming.

If you aren’t currently an Amazon Prime member are you’re interested in joining to take advantage of these deals then sign up to Amazon’s Prime subscription before the event. We have the links below if you want to try their no-commitment 30-Day FREE trial:

You will often see the Amazon Prime deal advertised in the top right-hand corner of the page.

Is it Worth Signing Up To Prime for Amazon Prime Day 2019?

Signing up to Amazon Prime just for the Prime Day is worth it if you haven’t already taken advantage of the free trial they offer. Signing up a few days before with the free trial will give you access to all these wonderful deals without costing you any extra pennies!

Unfortunately, If you’ve cancelled a Prime membership in the last 12 months, you won’t qualify for the free 30-day trial. Signing up to Prime for a month ($13) is your next option and may be worth it depending on how big your list of desired items has grown to. Amazon Prime membership costs $120 a year and an item or two – or even three items – is unlikely to make up for the cost of the subscription. Remember, with the above-mentioned no-commitment 30-Day FREE trial links, you have the chance to ‘try before you buy’.

Nonetheless, if your primary purpose of signing up is to get as many items as you can from the two-day free shipping, then I’d say sign up now and get the best exclusive deals you can grab.

How to Get the Best Deals on Amazon Prime Day 2019?

The Amazon market place is flooded with different products, some new and some outdated. It is important you don’t just buy the first deal you see and make sure the product you are buying is actually of good value.

Spotting a real deal from a terrible deal just takes a bit of patience and in some cases a little bit of internet scrolling. A good way to avoid being ripped off is to simply make a list of what you desire most from the sale and stick to it.

Amazon isn’t the only website you should keep an eye on. Their annual Amazon Prime Day made a huge impact in the e-commerce industry. In fact, you might also want to keep an eye on other websites like Walmart and Best Buy because chances are they might also drop their prices even lower.

Can Prime Students Take Advantage Of Prime Day Deals?

Amazon Prime student members will get all the same access to the deals as regular members do. If you weren’t aware and are currently a student with an edu email address you can sign up to prime for six months free of charge!

What are Lightning Deals?

Lightning deals are a promotion from Amazon that features a limited amount of discounts offered for a specific item over a short period.

Often the lightning deals will come and go quite fast so Amazon has added some features to these specific deals that make the user experience a bit more friendly. You will be able to see what percentage of the featured items have been purchased/ is sitting in a customers basket. You’ll see what savings are to be made and what discount has been added.

There is also a timer added onto these product pages so it is imperative that you complete your purchase within 15 minutes. Otherwise, the item will be available to someone else.

Fortunately, Amazon is considerate enough to offer every Prime member an opportunity to get notified should the item be placed back on the lightning deals. All you have to do is join the waitlist here and you will be notified the second the item is available.

Joining the waitlist sends an alert in the upper right-hand corner of your Amazon.com page when the deal is available. If you’re using a phone, download the Amazon App and turn the notifications on to get real-time updates when the item is available.

But aside from having to wait around for notifications, you can also visit the Amazon Deals page and sort the page by “upcoming deals”. This should give you some time to prepare before a deal goes live. You can conveniently check the list of upcoming deals by clicking on the link here.

Twitch Prime and Prime Day

This year, it’s not just Amazon celebrating Prime Day – Twitch is getting in on the action too. They will be streaming two separate gaming championships in the run-up to the big day, as well as hosting a live stream shopping event on Twitch Prime Day.

If you’re an Amazon Prime member, then you can take advantage of Twitch Prime and subscribe to one channel of your choice each month for free, as well as gaining access to exclusive in-game loot.

The first of the live stream events will be their Twitch Prime Crown Cup tournaments for Apex Legends and EA Sports. The events will take place on July 13th and will feature special guest stars, music, and competitive gaming.

They will also be hosting a one-of-a-kind shopping live stream with their “Twitch Sells Out” show. Streaming across July 15th and 16th, the show will see a host of familiar faces from streaming and gaming talking through some of Amazon’s best deals for Prime Day 2019.

You’ll also want to keep your eyes peeled for Twitch Prime exclusive loot and in-game content throughout Amazon Prime Day to take your own gaming to the next level.
