The much anticipated Battlefield 2042 from EA and Dice is set to be released on the 22nd of October 2021 and is set to be the biggest game from the Battlefield series promising 128 player servers, exciting new game modes that allow players to design their own game types, mix and match vehicles and weapons from other games in the lineup such as Battlefield 3, Battlefield 1942 and more. It seems as though EA and Dice have finally begun to listen to the community and develop a game that isn’t restricted by the typical red tape.
The ‘design your own game’ mode called ‘Battlefield Portal’ looks particularly interesting, you can check out this teaser trailer from the official Battlefield Youtube channel below.
When is the Battlefield 2042 release date?
As mentioned earlier, the official release date is October 22, 2021, and will be launching on PC via Origin, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. As well as this, Battlefield 2042 will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S, and X and will also support crossplay. For those who have not been lucky enough to get one of the latest gen consoles, EA and Dice have also announced that Battlefield 2042 will be coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles, however, it will not support 128 player servers or crossplay with newer consoles and PC platforms.
Note: if you preorder either the gold or ultimate edition of Battlefield 2042 you will get early access to the game. For an entire week, for those players the game will launch on the 15th October 2021.

What is the difference between the three Battlefield 2042 editions?
The biggest difference is if you purchase either gold or ultimate edition you gain early access to Battlefield 2042. The official release date is the 22nd of October, however with gold and ultimate editions you will get access to the game from 15th October. The other significant difference is that with gold and ultimate edition you also get the Year 1 pass which comes with 4 new specialists, 4 battle passes, and 3 epic skin bundles.
The early access and Year 1 Pass are ultimately the biggest benefits of choosing gold or ultimate edition as opposed to the standard edition. Personally, I have gone with the gold edition.
