It’s a damn good day for Final Fantasy 7 fans. Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion has been announced and it’s coming THIS year.

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Remaster Announced

The new game looks to have updated 3D models, a new soundtrack and a fully voiced-over story. It’s unclear whether this will follow the story pattern set by Final Fantasy VII Remake in which Zack simply doesn’t die at the end of the story, like he does in Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII. Either way, it’s coming way sooner than people might have expected in Winter 2022, and it’s coming to PS5/PS4, Xbox Series X/Xbox Series S/Xbox One/Switch/PC.

When did the original Crisis Core release?

The original Crisis Core released on PSP in 2007 and is set before the events of the original Final Fantasy 7. With that it ends with the tragic death of the main character, Zack Fair, but Final Fantasy 7 Remake (spoilers) DOESN’T end with that, and it has Zack walk off into the sunset carrying the unconscious body of Cloud Strife. It’ll be interesting to see if they stick with the original story and make this a straight up remaster of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII or if they’ll go with the newer version of the Final Fantasy VII storyline.
