The RTX 3080 Ti and 3080 are the most popular cards in the market today. Ti stands for Titanium which is faster and more expensive than the RTX 3080 model. Nvidia has tried to upgrade the new Ti model with powerful hardware. But does the improvement make a big difference compared to the 3080 model?
The Ti model of the card offers an additional 2GB of video memory along with over 1500 extra CUDA cores. The additional tensor and ray tracing cores present in the Ti model result in modest improvement in gaming, rendering, and video editing.
Consider the new gen cards with the RTX 4090 releasing soon!
The Ti version also has more TMUs and ROPs required for high-level graphic performance. You should have a high power supply to run any of these GPUs. As the 3080 consumes around 320 W of power supply, and the 3080 Ti increases to a 350 W TDP.
As far as gaming is concerned, both cards offer a great gaming experience at 4k. According to some tests, it is observed that the 3080 Ti has shown a slight increase in the average frame rates at 4k resolution with ultra settings.
This little difference won’t affect your gaming experience if you are an average gamer. If your budget is lower, you can opt for a 3080 as the slight improvement in performance won’t matter much. If you want to extract the best value for your money and do not want to extract every ounce of performance from your card, 3080 is the card for you.
On the other hand, if you are a hardcore gaming enthusiast and have more budget, you can buy a 3080 Ti. It offers the best frame rates possible at 4k. 3080 Ti is currently the best GPU in the market before 3090 Ti. 3080 Ti is a future-proofed card, and you can easily play the latest games on 4k at ultra settings for years to come.
