As the new AM5 platform was released, so was introduced the newer PCIe 5 spec interface. But as nothing yet had the parts to match, you may be wondering about the PCIe 5 SSD release date. There was the expected case of RDNA 3 GPUs based on that platform to match the motherboards but that wasn’t the case even with the best GPUs. As such we look at where to buy PCIe 5 SSDs as they are expected sooner than later.

It’s been nearly a year since the mention of the SSDs but even still not many or now have come to market. So when can we expect to see any?

Crucial P3 and P3 Plus

PCIe 5 SSD release date

Although it’s taken some time, many PCIe 5 SSDs are expected to launch in 2024 and in fact, we finally have some models to look for when buying a new storage device. And so we have seen the likes of the Apacer AS2280F5 announced and shown off and expected to come, but still nowhere to be seen. Even Corsairs MP700 has the same issues, of talk but no show.

But the Gigabyte AORUS Gen5 has shown up since the beginning of March 2023, it can be found out of stock on Newegg but it’s there. The same as on Amazon and Gigabyte’s official store. So you now just have to wait for it to come back at some point.

And March is when plenty of other options came out. Such as the Crucial T700 that came out in March as LTT showed off. These do promise a lot of speed, but come at a much higher price does anything even utilize that? Probably not and it’s more something to show off later on when you don’t have to upgrade your storage for more speed.
