Pokemon GO players around the world will be confused and surprised to find the Pokemon GO trade button gone when on their friends’ profiles. There’s no button or option to trade at all, and players were given a very vague message from Niantic about it. Simply stating:

Trainers,

Trading is currently unavailable as we investigate an issue. We apologize for the inconvenience, and will update you when we have more information to share. Thank you for your patience.”

Pokemon Trading Button gone

By the sounds of it, Niantic have caught some kind of bug or fault that is either inconveniencing players or potentially it could be something players are instead able to take advantage of. They keyword in their update being ‘we will update you wen we have more information to share’.

Instead, all we have is the ‘send gift’ option and ‘battle’. This entire fault is a bit of a hassle, considering the limitations of trading already. With special trades and there not being any long-distance options. Some players might have been counting on today to trade with their friend, or perhaps some players were made ‘Lucky Friends‘ today only and now that’s a wasted opportunity.

Either way. Niantic are being vague about the issues, including on when it’ll be fixed. We can only hope within the next few hours or day. Once we have more details about this bug and what it means, perhaps you’ve unknowingly been affected? It could have something to do with the various trading odds going on behind scenes, those that determine whether a Pokemon is Lucky or not. It could also have something to do with the cost of each trade and how much Stardust is used up in the exchange.

Either way, there could be a variety of reasons for the bug and Niantic are playing it safe by remove the feature altogether to minimise any potential damage linked to the trades.
