The Framework 16 laptop is the first Radeon RX 7700S laptop that we’ve seen available to buy online, and one of the only AMD Advantage Edition laptops we’ve seen this year (i.e. those that combine an AMD CPU and GPU). Framework are a lesser known brand that specialise in creating hugely customizable notebook laptops that have myriad input modules that allow you to massively scale up the number and type of ports, in addition to the keyboard and trackpad layout.

Framework 16 Radeon RX 7700S release date window
Pre-orders for the Framework 16 are live, so you can already buy the product, but when does it actually ship?
In their blog post on the 18th July, Framework announced that the first batches of their laptop would be being delivered in Q4 2023, though if you go to actually order a laptop, it would appear that the first batches targeting this delivery window have already sold out, with the next earliest available being ‘Q1’, which we assume to be Q1 2024.
In short then, the earliest Framework 16 Radeon RX 7700S release date will land at some point in Q4 2023, though if you haven’t yet pre-ordered one, you might have to wait until next year.

The below covers the majority of the specification options for the Framework 16. When it comes to the port and keyboard options it’s a bit more complex though, as Framework offers six user-selectable expansion cards which can include different variations of USB-C, USB-A, HDMI, DP, Ethernet, 250GB, 1TB, and MicroSD sockets and ports, plus and audio inputs/outputs.

The pre-built Framework 16 price starts at $1,699, and in this you get a Ryzen 7 7840HS CPU only, with no dedicated GPU. Adding a Radeon RX 7700S GPU costs $2,099.
The pre-built Framework 16 with Ryzen 9 7940HS CPU only costs $2,099. Adding a Radeon RX 7700S GPU brings the price to $2,499.
The Framework 16 DIY edition price starts at $1,399, but be aware that this doesn’t include any RAM, storage, or port expansion cards. It comes equipped with the starting Ryzen 7 7840HS CPU, but you can upgrade this and add the GPU along with all the other features as much as you like (each upgrade costing extra though).
