AMD Ryzen 7 8700G release date: when does the Ryzen 7 8700G come out?
The official AMD Ryzen 7 8700G release date has been confirmed by AMD as landing on the 31st of January 2024. This is when you will definitely be able to pick up the new processor off the shelves and have it delivered to your door.
It is possible that Ryzen 7 8700G pre order options will be available on retailers like Amazon between the grand unveiling and the released date proper, but this is not guaranteed. Click the link for more info.
AMD Ryzen 7 8700G specs
The whole of the Ryzen 8000G series will be built around the Zen 4 architecture that was found in Ryzen 7000 series CPUs, so it’s possible that in raw core/thread performance terms we won’t see a massive uplift over the previous gen (though we’ll have to wait and see) but improved power efficiency is expected. The main places the 8000G series is expected to shine however is in two main areas: the onboard graphics and the AI processing.
Every SKU in the range is an APU (Accelerated Processing Unit), which combines the CPU with an integrated graphics processor on a single die. Specifically, the 8700G will come with Radeon 780M integrated graphics (built on RDNA 3 tech). AMD claim that in games it will perform similarly to an Intel i5-13400F with a dedicated Nvidia GeForce 1650 graphics card – underperforming slightly in some titles but outperforming by up to 31% in others.
These will apparently be the first desktop PC processors to feature NPUs – which will be utilised for AI software and workloads to help speed up productivity tasks in particular, plus support features like AI noise-canceling.

AMD have confirmed the initial pricing for most of their 8000 series SKUs, including for the 8700G. All prices are labelled as ‘SEP’ – basically the acronym AMD uses for their suggested retail pricing, though this may differ slightly depending on the retailer and are subject to change over time.
