Persona is a spin-off of the Shin Megami Tensei series that was created by Atlus and is now owned, funded and published by SEGA, who bought Atlus back in 2013. It’s a massively popular JRPG series which tells epic stories about teenagers that have heroic transformations called Personas and their clashes with evil.

At this point Persona outsells it’s parent franchise Shin Megami Tensei, and some people don’t know it’s a spin-off at all. It’s the 25th anniversary of Persona, and SEGA have announced not only a first wave of announcements — but that they have lots of plans to announce later.

We got our first lot of official Persona 25th anniversary news (in Japanese) on the official Persona Channel website, which is run by SEGA and Atlus.

Atlus have confirmed that they have seven projects in-progress to celebrate Persona’s 25th anniversary. The first of which was revealed in a special YouTube video called “Persona 25th Times Vol. 1“. Going off the title, we can assume that we’re going to get six more volumes.

What was announced during Persona 25th Vol. 1?

Sadly, the announcements for September aren’t Persona 6, a spin-off, or a game announcement at all. Here’s what’s was announced:

  • All of the different Persona anime series are coming to streaming services in Japan.

  • There’ll be a “25th Anniversary Persona Symphonic Concert” at Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall on November 21, 2021. It will feature songs from across the series, played by the Grand Philharmonic Tokyo.

  • There’ll be a live show called the “Sega Atlus Channel” at TGS 2021.

  • A “PERSONA5 the Stage”, stage play and the “Persona Super Live” music concert will both be on streaming services in Japan.

  • They’re going to be selling “Persona 25th Anniversary Commemorative Goods”. Japanese fans can get a velvet room clock based on Persona 3, which is cool.

  • There’ll be a sale on digital copies of the games. We’re not sure if this is in Japan only.

  • We should expect more announcements in December 2021.

So far, it’s all very cool stuff for Japanese fans, with no word on if any of this merchandise will make it to the rest of the world. We’ll probably report on Persona again in December, when there’ll be another “Persona 25th Times” volume, and we’ll have even more Persona 25th Anniversary celebration news to share.

In other recent news, SEGA announced that Morgana would be in Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania.
