Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan just announced via Twitter that they have partnered up with NIU, a brand many know for its variety of electric scooters.

The partnership brings us an absolutely stunning collaboration – the limited-edition, NIU X Razer SQi Edition e-scooter.

Unfortunately, the NIU X Razer is currently only available in China but as mentioned in the Tweet, the demand for this e-scooter was “overwhelming”, with it selling out in just 2 seconds!

What is the NIU X Razer SQi Edition electric scooter?

In its essence, the NIU X Razer SQI Edition is an electric-powered smart scooter, with a 25km/h top speed.

The e-scooter weighs more than 50KG and is ideal for the daily commute, with a range/ battery life of roughly 65km.

Of course, this “electric scooter” looks more like an electric motorcycle, a design choice we absolutely love.

The entire bike gets the Razer green treatment, with the central battery compartment/ identity plate, front fender, center axle, and rear shock absorber all accented in that bright green.

The NIU X Razer chassis is made from aerospace-grade magnesium alloy, with no solder joints. This material choice is much lighter than steel, while still remaining strong.

Aside from being better for the environment for the end user, the electric scooter is manufactured with low carbon materials, meaning less emissions.

The NIU X Razer SQi Edition electric scooter tires are 17-inch, with magnesium alloy wheels.

The Razer scooter features double disc brakes, with the front brake being 220mm, and the rear 180mm.

The NIU X Razer electric scooter only takes 6 hours to fully charge its battery.

While the Razer NIU looks very moped-like, it is listed as an electric scooter.

Razor, a completely different brand, that is synonymous with all things electric much like NIU also produces an electric moped.

The NIU X Razer SQi Edition is a smart scooter

You can use Siri to control the NIU X Razer SQi, which works seamlessly with apps, WeChat, Bluetooth, and NFC.

This means your mobile phone is your ignition key, so you sit down and the NIU X Razer SQi Edition will just start.

The application will also let you know how much battery/ distance left in the “tank”, meaning you won’t get stranded.

Additional NIU X Razer SQi Edition electric scooter features

There is a Vehicle Safety Manager chip on board.

This chip analyses the vehicle 200 times a minute, constantly checking the health/ status of your scooter.

The NIU X Razer SQi Edition also features Vehicle Intelligent Security, where GPS can be used to track your vehicle at all times, plus there are movement alarms to combat theft.

The NIU X Razer SQi Edition electric scooter release date was August 2nd, 2022 in China.

There is no news about whether or not this may become available in different regions, however, it was noted that the e-scooter sold out on day one of its Chinese sales (in 2 seconds).

On NIU’s web page, the retail price is apparently ¥9,999, which is roughly $1,500 USD.

As far as electric scooters go, the NIU X Razer SQi Edition looks incredible and has got us thinking about ditching the bus, tram, and trains altogether.
