Pokémon are just about everywhere. In your phone, on your consoles, on you TV, playing cards, clothes, accessories, furniture and the list goes on and on. It’s no wonder that the Pokémon franchise makes the most of it revenue through licenced merchandise, with a total of $81.1 billion being made since its conception. That amount of money is inordinate, and whilst writing it down or reading it doesn’t seem like much, it’s absolutely wild that Pokémon makes that much off its licenced merchandise alone. With even more coming from its entertainment and video games, the Pokémon name is everywhere.

So why wouldn’t it also be on Oreos?

Pokémon Oreos

On the 8th of September, Pokémon Oreos were announced. With 16 Pokémon now featuring on the Oreo cookie, there’s no doubt that the Pokémon collectors out there will be scouring far and wide to get their hands on all 16.

Gotta Eat ‘Em All

It’s not Pokémon without an absurd amount of obsession with getting each and every possible Pokémon. Oreos have announced 16 of their Pokémon will be featured on their own cookie. Some of the Pokémon will be more common than others, with the Mythical Pokémon being the most rare. Oreo said an “extremely limited amount” of Mew cookies will be available.

Gotta Hoard ‘Em All?

Pokémon fans will know just how popular Pokémon merchandise is and how valuable some can be. When a Pokémon product is labelled as rare, you’ll see one being sold on eBay for up to $400,000. Therefor, it’s no surprise that people are already assuming that the cookies will be scalped and hoarded.

Although, it does beg the question: How many people will be letting their Pokémon Oreo cookies go mouldy on their collectible shelf?

With the cookies being unevenly distributed, people might sell their Mew Oreo for a hefty fee, or perhaps they’ll invest in airtight containers for their cookies!

What Pokémon are available?

Oreo have announced that 16 Pokémon will be featured.
