The all-new Tears of the Kingdom Nintendo Switch OLED console is coming our way – and it looks absolutely incredible. It’ll be the first Zelda themed Nintendo Switch console, so expect demand to by sky-high.
The limited edition Nintendo Switch boasts a gold and green aesthetic and comes bundled with a Joycon, OLED console and Dock, all sporting the Zelda look. Not even Breath of the Wild launched with a special console, instead coming bundled with the standard Blue and Red Switch.

Hardware wise, there are no improvements – this is purely an aesthetic play targeting die-hard Zelda fans… but expect this to fly off the shelves. Here are the specs for the Nintendo Switch OLED, which will be the same for the Tears of the Kingdom model – given there are no changes hardware wise.

- USB connections: USB-C x1 (Console), USB 2.0 Type A x2 (Dock)

- Battery life: 4.5-9 hours (depending on game)
- Charging time: 3 hours (approx.)
The big draw to the OLED is the vibrant 7-inch OLED screen which leads to much brighter, ore vibrant colours when playing in handheld form.
How much will the Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Switch OLED cost?
According to Nintendo, the Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom OLED Nintendo Switch will retail at $359.99 when it launches. It does not include a copy of the game.
The standard Nintendo Switch OLED retails for around the £260 mark in the UK and around the $350 mark in the US. This includes Joycons but does not include any games.
Perhaps the closest thing to the Tears of the Kingdom Switch is the Splatoon OLED, which sported Splatoon-inspired Joycons and a fun paint-splattered dock. This is currently priced at around £319 /$359. This is also a Nintendo-owned IP, like Zelda.
As these are limited edition, expect scalpers to try to snap up as many of these as possible and then put them on ebay at inflated prices. We’ll keep you updated if we get official news on price.
For those after even more Zelda merch, two other accessories both sporting the Tears of the Kingdom aesthetic, a Nintendo Switch Pro Controller and a Nintendo Switch carrying case, will release on May 12, which is also when the game launches.
As per the Nintendo website: “In a world fueled by your imagination, you’ll need to harness the power of Link’s new abilities to fight back against the malevolent forces that threaten the kingdom.”
