Twitter has been in trouble since Spaceman Elon took over the social network back in October 2022. Since then, there have been layoffs, paid verification, and the launch of Threads further stomping Twitter into the ground. It seems Twitter has had enough, and it’s rolling out a new monetization program to help keep creators on the platform. Is Twitter trying to cling to creators with its new Ads Revenue Sharing program?

Twitter launches Ads Revenue Sharing program to try to keep creators on the platform

Twitter recently announced it was introducing a new monetization program named the Ads Revenue Sharing program to all eligible creators. This came just days after Threads hit 100 million users.

This new program is all part of Twitter’s apparent efforts to help creators “make a living on Twitter” whereas it seems more like a desperate attempt to keep creators that entertain the masses using Twitter’s platform. However, it might be the push that creators needed to consider keeping Twitter on their social media rosters. It’s looking more and more like Threads is the place to be.

The entry requirements seem pretty steep for now, let’s take a look at what Twitter deems as “eligible “

Can you enter the Creator Ads Revenue Sharing program on Twitter?

It seems Twitter has set the bar pretty high in terms of entry requirements, as you will soon see. Is this program for everyone? Definitely not.

Twitter stated that you will need to have 5 million impressions every month for the last 3 months. Not to mention you have to be a Twitter Blue subscriber, of course. You must pay to be paid.

Creator Ads Revenue Sharing Prigram entry requirements

This is a pretty steep requirement showing that Twitter means business. 15 Million impressions in 3 months is no easy feat, especially for the smaller creators out there. Since the program is just starting, we won’t bash the entry requirement being so high, but we will if it doesn’t come down at some point.

How does the Creator Ads Revenue Sharing program work?

Twitter wasn’t very clear on this but essentially, creators will get a cut of the ad revenue generated from the ads in their replies. We’re uncertain as to whether creators will get a cut from other ads displayed on content associated with them yet. For now, it seems to just be replies.

Better than nothing, we suppose.

What do you think about the new Creator Ads Revenue Sharing program? Will it change Twitter for the better? Or will it continue on its path of self-immolation?
