As the card had two announcements, there still is a bit of disappointment and confusion about it. So we look at what GPU is equivalent to the 4070 Ti.
Initially announced as the RTX 4080 12GB, it was then unlaunched. To avoid confusion it was renamed to the 4070 Ti, which should have been the SKU already, as the GPU was already different from the RTX 4080.

It’s Radeon 7900 XT, which was released a little before the RTX 4070 Ti. The RX 7900 XT, thanks to its 5 nm process size, can boast clock speeds that range from 1500 MHz to 2394 MHz.
In addition, it has 20 GB of GDDR6 memory and 5376 shader units, even though they differ across different designs of graphics and are unable to be directly comparable.
The RX 7900 XT is equipped with AMD’s cutting-edge RDNA 3.0 architecture, making it an ideal option if you want to build a PC with top-tier hardware.
Price
Ultimately, however, our assessment comes down to price: while the RX 7900 XT has a $100 higher MSRP than its rival, its specs also favor it more heavily, making it clear who comes out on top.
The RX 7900 XT may offer better value at first glance, as it’s faster on pure rasterized performance. But the RTX 4070 Ti counters this with greater support for ray tracing. AMD’s RDNA 3 architecture just isn’t equipped to support it as well as Nvidia’s Ada Lovelace design does.
Whilst both come in at a lower price than the old-gen counterparts. As the RX 6950 XT was $1,099 USD and RTX 3090 at $1,499. So both new ones offer good value compared to those.
Ultimately, the RX 7900 XT is the better alternative to the RTX 4070 Ti. At a lower price and with superior performance, AMD’s GPU could be your better bet instead.
