For those that own one of AMD’s graphics cards, performance enhancement is about to get a whole lot easier through something AMD is calling – HYPR-RX but what is it?. Quite simply, it is meant to be a one-click performance enhancement tool you can find in the Radeon software.
The software was announced alongside the RDNA 3 GPUs back in November of 2022 as an aid to the new hardware. As well as rivaling Nvidia’s wide range of additional features that support its own products that offer performance and latency improvements in general.
With one click, you turn on Radeon Anti-Lag, Radeon Boost, Radeon Super Resolution, and more all in one setting, improving the performance of your Radeon GPU.
Specifically, anti-lag is comparable to Nvidia Reflex to reduce the input delays from your mouse and keyboard to your game. Along with enabling RSR, the driver version of FSR offering up performance-enhancing technology that renders the game at lower resolutions and upscales it to your monitor’s native resolution. This should make the software more appealing than the Nvidia Control panel.
When is HYPR-RX coming out?
HYPR-RX was scheduled to launch in the first half in 2024. But now that we’ve surpassed June, it clearly has a delay. There has not yet been any mention of the new technology or any progress on it as such we’re not even sure if it will come out in the second half.
Currently, it is impossible to enable all of these technologies at the same to improve your frame rates. Trying to turn on RSR will turn off the likes of dynamic resolution scaling, AMD Anti-lag, and boost. This is what is likely being worked on, the ability for AMD gamers to appreciate all the features at once.
Although it was announced with the RX 7900 XTX and XT, they are the least likely to need it. But as AMD supports older hardware, or the lower end like RX 7600 recently, it could be beneficial for a spatial upscaler to be implemented. This can also bring a good choice over Nvidia users in terms of GeForce Experience with a one-click optimization solution for AMD desktops but who knows when that might come.
