Nvidia’s RTX 50-series launch has sparked controversy, with reports suggesting that even Nvidia employees struggle to get their hands on the new graphics cards. According to Moore’s Law is Dead, an alleged Nvidia insider has revealed that internal stock is non-existent, leaving many staff members frustrated and outraged.

For the first time, Nvidia’s employee storefront has no supply of new GPUs, with availability delayed until “widespread stabilization” is achieved. The insider claims that workers within the company are questioning why the launch was handled so poorly, with some even asking if Nvidia has “screwed over gaming” this time around.

Alleged Nvidia insider speaks out about 50-series launch

An alleged insider spoke to Moore’s Law is Dead, a popular figure in the leaking community, and they had this to say:

“Not sure how widespread the dissatisfaction is, but I can at least tell you anecdotally that I [Nvidia Engineer], and every coworker I’ve spoken with on the matter is outraged with how this launch has been handled.

The employee storefront states that “due to shortages”, no RTX 50 Series supply will be available until “widespread stabilization”. This hasn’t happened before, everyone is confused, and there’s a lot of people asking questions even inside Nvidia as to why we’re screwing over gaming so bad this time around…” – Alleged Nvidia insider – Via Moore’s Law is Dead

Demand for the RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 has far outstripped supply, with UK retailer Overclockers stating it could take up to 16 weeks to fulfil RTX 5090 pre-orders. Many retailers have already stopped taking pre-orders altogether. With that, stock for the Founders Editions (and every other model, for that matter) Sold out in what seemed like seconds. So, if you were hoping for more stock on the Founders Edition, you might be out of luck.

Gamers and industry experts are questioning Nvidia’s decision to launch so soon. OC3D speculates that the company rushed the release to avoid potential US tariffs, while others believe Nvidia should have waited until more stock was available.

While Nvidia’s dominance in the GPU market remains unchallenged, this rocky launch has left a dent in the company’s reputation – both among consumers and clearly its own employees.
