ASUS Zenbook Pro 16X OLED has just been revealed by ASUS, a brand new laptop for creatives with an array of interesting features, powerful core component options, and a superb 4K OLED display. When is the ASUS Zenbook Pro 16X OLED release date?
ASUS has not released any concrete information yet on the ASUS Zenbook Pro 16X OLED release date, besides ‘soon’, but given that reviewers have already received test copies of the device, we’d estimate Q2 or Q3 2022 at the latest. Let’s just hope the stock issues that plagued the release of the 2022 ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 don’t recur here.
ASUS Zenbook Pro 16X OLED price information
- The ASUS Zenbook Pro 16X OLED price for the lowest spec starting option is around $2,600 (Intel Core i7 CPU, Nvidia RTX 3060, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD).
- The ASUS Zenbook Pro 16X OLED price for the higher-spec option is $3,000 (Intel Core i9-12900H, Nvidia RTX 3060, 32GB RAM, 2TB SSD).
ASUS Zenbook Pro 16X OLED specifications & features
The ASUS Zenbook Pro 16X OLED features a similar raisable keyboard design to the ASUS Zephyrus S17 which gives both an improved typing angle and better cooling (reportedly enabling up to 30% more cool air to be pulled in beneath the keyboard). Again like the new Duo 16, this laptop for creatives features a Vapor chamber cooler for the CPU, further improving cooling and reducing thermal throttling on performance. Probably the biggest draw of this machine though is the 16-inch, 16:10 4K OLED screen. ASUS claim the display has 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, and 550 nits peak brightness, making it ideal for any color-based workflows. Interestingly it apparently has a 0.2ms response time, though the 60Hz refresh rate means it’s not an ideal choice for gamers despite this.
Battery life is always important when it comes to laptops for creatives on the move, and ASUS claims that improvements they’ve made mean up to 9 hours of battery life, despite coming with a more power-hungry Intel CPU; as ever, we remain skeptical of this until we’ve done our own testing. Other great features include an SD Express 7.0 card reader which they claim is the world’s fastest (at a transfer rate of 985 MB/s). The 1080p webcam comes with ASUS AI effects features to improve image quality. The two USB-C / Thunderbolt 4 ports support fast charging, and also the ability to DisplayPort output footage to either two 4K displays or one 8K display (both at 60Hz max refresh rate).
The ASUS Dial is a physical feature on the keyboard, a circular touch wheel with a central button, designed to be compatible with an on-screen dial tool in Adobe creative software such as Adobe Photoshop, Premiere, Illustrator, and Lightroom. ASUS are usually some of the best out there when it comes to speakers on Windows laptop devices, and the ‘6-speaker sound system certified by Harman Kardon’, will hopefully prove one of their best yet. The 2.4kg 16.9mm chassis is thin, light, and portable, yet of a durable aluminum build.
