Epic Games Store Adds Control To Latest Free Download List
At 4 pm UK time, the Epic Games Store will be updating its promotional download list with hugely popular Sci-Fi shooter, Control. According to Twitter sources, ‘Control will be free to download – with Hell is Other Demons and Overcooked! 2 being next week’s additions.’
Control was originally released back in August of 2019, receiving several expansions since that date – including The Foundation DLC and AWE DLC. Furthermore, an Ultimate Edition of the game was released last year.
“Set in a unique and ever-changing world that juxtaposes our familiar reality with the strange and unexplainable, Control is a third-person action-adventure game combining Remedy’s trademark gunplay with supernatural abilities.
After a secretive agency in New York is invaded by an otherworldly threat, players will take on the role of Jesse Faden, the new Director struggling to regain Control. This sandbox-style, gameplay-driven experience built on the proprietary Northlight engine challenges players to master a combination of supernatural abilities, modifiable loadouts and reactive environments while fighting through the deep and mysterious worlds Remedy is known and loved for.”
The initial leak was brought to light in a post on Reddit, where German website mdealz.de suggested the game would be free for download imminently. The German website has leaked rumours of EGS promotions in the past, with many being accurate.
Control, A Mind-bending Shooter
For those new to Control, gamers can expect an immersive Sci-Fi experience where users control Jesse Faden’s story and her personal search for answers. The world of Control has its very own story, as do the allies Jesse encounters during her mission.
The game has won numerous awards, including coveted Golden Joystick, The Game Award, and BAFTA gongs.
Whether you’ve played the game or not, it’s currently free on EGS and offers up exciting gameplay that ticks a lot of the right boxes.
For as long as he can remember, Charlie has always been interested in computers and gaming. It all started with the Sega Mega Drive and then evolved into PC gaming in his early teens. CS 1.6 was his first go at competitive gaming which soon evolved into CS:Source and now CS:GO - a game that he still plays (almost exclusively) today. Throughout that period he has also been a keen PC builder and enthusiast - dedicating a large portion of his time to the craft. My current rig is an ASUS 5700XT with AMD's Ryzen 3600X.
