Ubisoft has announced its post-launch plans for Far Cry 6, revealing all the downloadable content that will be released between the Far Cry’s release date of October 7, all the way to March next year.

There will be two types of Far Cry 6 DLC – free content and Season Pass content. Amongst the free content will be weekly updates that include weekly Insurgency challenges for new Gear. There will also be six Special Operations and three Crossover Missions, which are story co-op missions that can be played solo or with a friend.

The Season Pass (Ubisoft missed a trick by not calling it the Season Vaas) includes three villainous DLC packs and the Classic Edition of Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. The version of Blood Dragon given to PC Season Pass users will be the same as the original 2013 release.

Availability Paid Content / Season Pass Free DLC Missions
October 7, 2021 Far Cry 6 release date Special Operations
November 2021 DLC 1 Insanity Special Operations
December 2021 Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon Classic Edition Danny Trejo Crossover
January 2022 DLC 2 Control
February 2022 Rambo Crossover
March 2022 DLC 3 Collapse Stranger Things Crossover

What DLC is the Far Cry 6 Season Pass?

At the heart of the Far Cry 6 Season pass are three DLC episodes, each focusing on Far Cry’s most celebrated villains. In the first, Insanity (out November), players will control Far Cry 3 psycho Vaas Montenegro. Then in Control (January 2022)  you control FC4’s Pagan Min. Finally you get to play as creepy Far Cry 5 pastor Joseph Seed in Collapse (March 2022). Within each episode, the aim is to escape the horrors of each character’s past, in gameplay that’s reminiscent of Call of Duty’s Zombies mode. You start with a pistol, head out to find weapons and collect loot, then return to your safe house to purchase upgrades before the next wave of psychosis washes over you.

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon Classic Edition

As well as the three DLC packs, the Far Cry 6 Season Pass includes the re-release of Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. The PC version of Blood Dragoon will be identical to the 2013 release, while console buyers will get the Classic Edition, which is an upgrade of the PS3/X360-era game for current gen consoles.

Danny Trejo, Rambo, Stranger Things Far Cry 6 Crossover

Crossover Missions are free co-op missions that can be played solo with AI or with a friend. All three are story-driven and set somewhere on Yara. The first stars Danny Trejo and will be added to the game in December. The second features a very Rambo superfan in a rampage against the Yaran security forces (“straight out of an 80s action movie”), and the third Crossover Mission is themed around Stranger Things. Coming to the game in March 2022, the Stranger Things Crossover is clearly designed to get us in the mood for Season 4 of the hit show.

What are Special Operations?

Special Operations are new co-op maps that can be played solo or with a friend. The aim is to find chemical weapons and take them to an extraction point before they become too unstable. ‘Mesozoico’ and ‘Maceo’ will be available on the day of the game’s release. ‘Cocodrilo’ and ‘Los Tres Santos’ will be out during October, and ‘Puerta Del Eden’ and ‘Malagua’ (which appears to also feature Mr. Trejo) the following month.

How to get the Far Cry 6 Season Pass

The Far Cry 6 Season Pass and all post-launch Far Cry 6 DLC is available as part of the Gold Edition, Ultimate Edition or Collector’s Edition of the game. You can compare editions here.
