Valorant is one of the most popular competitive hero shooters around, with more than 11,000,000 gamers regularly playing the game.
Valorant is currently only on PC via the Epic Games Store – and can also be reached via GamePass. There is no Nintendo Switch or PlayStation version of the game.
So, how can you get involved and more importantly, how much will it cost to kick off your Valorant campaign? Here, we explain everything you need to know.
Is Valorant free?
Yes, Valorant is completely fee, providing you have a Windows computer that matches up the system requirements needed to play the game.
Once you’re in, you’re able to play the game without spending any money. However, as is the case with other free-to-play shooters, those who want to, can purchase in-game currency called VP – or Valorant Points.
These VP can be bought in the game, or via a new gift Riot Games card mechanic. Older League of Legends gift cards can also be redeemed for Valorant Points.
How much you spend depends entirely on you. For reference, around $10 will net you 1,000 Valorant Points, while $100 will give you 11,000. While the majority won’t be dropping $100, the Valorant Premium Battle Pass usually comes in at around $10 – and for many will be worth it.
A new Battle Pass is unveiled at the start of every act – so around every two months. Here, you’re able to unlock cosmetics, nab yourself some Radiante Points, unlock skins and boost in XP earned in matches.
It’s worth stressing that these are no means essential, but if you didn’t buy it, you will be missing out on notable XP boosts and rewards, so it’ll likely be tempting for new players looking to make up ground.
