Sony has delivered yet another software update for the PS5 console. The PS5 23.01-07.60.00.07 update and patch notes have gone live, bringing us improved system performance. This minor firmware update may go unnoticed with a small file size of 1GB, however, we love to see system updates roll out.

There is no mention as to what performance improvements you will see just yet but it is likely nothing of note, just routine improvements.

PS5 update 23.01-07.60.00.07 patch notes

The latest PS5 patch is labelled as: 23.01-07.60.00.07, released for the console today (July 20th) to improve stability and overall system performance. The firmware update is 1GB in size, here are the patch nots below:

  • This system software update improves system performance

It is unfortunate that the patch notes are not more specific but this is it for now. The update is not mandatory but it should give you the option to download the next time you turn on your PS5, unless it has already done so. We advise you get this installed as any performance update is an easy win. We were hoping for a Dualsense update but Sony devs stated there was no Dualsense firmware update. We speculate the new update is potentially drivers and security updates.

The previous patch (23-01-07.40.00.06) saw something similar with improved software performance and stability. Sony also improved the messages and usability on some screens.

When is the next PS5 update?

Sony has been hell-bent on stability but when are we likely to see another patch? PS5 updates are not scheduled on specific dates but it is not uncommon to see fixes and improvements monthly if required. Bigger updates like the VRR support patch are far less frequent, however, improving the system and drivers is basic maintenance.
