Eerie survival horror game, Remothered: Broken Porcelain, is back for another showing courtesy of a new trailer cooked up by the folks at developer Stormwind Games and publisher Modus Games.

Announced back at Gamescom 2019, Remothered: Broken Porcelain was initially penciled in for release later this month, but Modus announced in early July that it needed more time to ‘deliver the experience’ players deserve and apply some additional polish to the game. Modus confirmed a delay pushing Remothered: Broken Porcelain to October 20th, 2020.

“After much consideration, we have reached a decision with Darril Arts and Stormind Games to delay Remothered: Broken Porcelain’s release to October 20th this year.

We are incredibly excited to invite you into this wonderfully realized chapter of the Remothered story, but it’s important that we deliver the experience you deserve. Having additional time for polish and to accommodate unanticipated longer timeframes due to the current global situation will help us do exactly that.”

This also means that you’ll be able to explore the Ashmann Inn for the very first time during the spookiest time of the year, Halloween!”

Not happy with leaving would-be players in a lurch, Modus’ new trailer dives into the spooky Ashmann Inn, which forms the setting for Remothered: Broken Porcelain’s unnerving brand of psychological horror.

The trailer introduces the inn’s residents: housekeeper Andrea Massino, maid Lindsay, young misfit Jennifer, fugitive Rosemary Reed, and haunting specter Porcelain. We get a quick overview of their unsettling backstories with a smattering of spine-tingling gameplay. Remothered: Broken Porcelain promises to build on the frightful foundations of its predecessor if the new trailer stands as any measure of what to expect.

Much like the original, Remothered: Broken Porcelain asks players to use their wits to solve puzzles, stealthily move around the inn, survive all-manner of terrifying evils, distract enemies, and gather resources to ensure their survival.

Here’s a bit more on the backstory underpinning Remothered: Broken Porcelain:

”After her expulsion from an all-girls boarding school, the rebellious Jen suffers an injury attempting to escape from the Ashmann Inn, where she was sent to serve as one of its maids. Together with her new friend and fellow maid, a timid violinist named Linn, Jen slowly becomes aware of the manor’s unsettling history. As the two girls begin to observe strange occurrences involving the inn’s residents, a haunting figure lurking within the halls, and an ominous presence from inside the hotel, the duo must escape from their prison with the truth…and their lives.

Meanwhile, the enigmatic Rosemary Reed encounters an old nemesis, the since disfigured owner of the Ashmann Inn, in her continued search for Celeste Felton – a young girl who vanished years before under unexplainable circumstances. Closer to the answers she seeks than ever before, Reed will uncover everyone’s role in this twisted plot for better or worse.”

Remothered: Broken Porcelain is set for release on PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on October 20th.
