Temtem Kisiwa Update Brings New Island, Chat System And Increased Level Cap

Online monster-battle RPG Temtem has just received it’s latest major update, the first big update since April. It’s adding a range of different features and functionalities, but the big headline is the new location, Kisiwa island.

This new island brings with it a host of new Tems to collect, locations to explore, and a host of new story missions. Kisiwa island is under siege by Clan Belsoto, the shady organization with nefarious intentions using Tems to advance their cause. You’ll have to defeat Clan Belsoto in battle to restore peace to the island.

Clubs are a new feature, essentially Temtem’s versions of clans, where up to 50 players can join together to form an in-game group. Clans get custom icons, backgrounds, and borders so you can really show off your loyalty to your clan. For now, these clans don’t have any real gameplay mechanics associated with them, it’s mostly just for fun, and a convenient way of connecting with other players, but as some point in the future, there will be another update that brings in “Dojo Wars”, letting different clans battle each other in some form.

There’s also an entirely overhauled chat system, with the newly added option to decide whether to chat with specific users or any other players in your club. There are also more robust controls for things like muting/blocking other players newly implemented, which developer Crema says will help to keep the game safe and welcoming to all users.

They’ve also bumped up the level cap, where you’re now able to grind your Tems up to level 58, up 10 from the previous level cap of 48. This bump is going to be enough for certain Tems to be able to reach their next stage of evolution.

Like with many early access games, Temtem has grown from an early work in progress project that showed some potential, to a popular and robust game, even before it is finished. Reflecting the fact that it’s gradually becoming a more complete package, they will now be increasing the price of Temtem, from $35 up to $37.50. Not exactly a massive price increase, but it will perhaps make people who bought it early on feel like they got an especially good deal, since these updates come at no extra charge. They say that with each island they add to the game in future, there will be a similar price bump. It’s an interesting model, but whether you like the price going up or not, at least they are being upfront about it.

There are more details over on the official blog, and head over to Steam if you’re thinking about picking up Temtem.
